One of my favourite Heaney poems - I actually had it as the question on my English A-level on Thursday, and studying it really helped me realise just how much you can get out of one poem

(the lead is very short which is why I'm listening to it on the floor)

Sounds pretty good, definitely needs a service, but I'm very happy with it – I think it ate the tape because I was cleaning it when I was listening to it, and must have accidentally knocked the mechanism or something

The other problem as well is that the rewind is ridiculously slow – it works fine when there's no tape, but when there's a tape in it barely rewinds at all, although it might just be a belt thing (they look OK but they probably need replaced)

A slightly esoteric, but also fantastic love poem – I absolutely adore the way Heaney uses sound in the first and last stanzas

Heaney spots a skunk that reminds him of his absence from and love for his wife – “to this day I associate that visitation with the erotic.” Heaney also stated that “in poetry a recollection is as potent as an erection,” which doesn't really fit here, but I don't know how else I'm going to force people to read that quote LOL

Sorry for asking a question that I'm sure gets asked a ton here, but I thought it would be good to find a second opinion.

It's listed as tested and working without any other faults mentioned (although there's no videos of it functioning), and it feels like a good buy, but I'm still nervous to part with my money for whatever reason (especially as it'd be my first deck after having lusted after one for ages, and I just want it to work haha)

The fact it only has Dolby B isn't the best, but it seems to be in good condition for a cheap price, and the fact it's claimed to be tested rather than "I had no speakers so couldn't test it :(" is at least something haha

(if this is actually incredible and someone snaps it up after seeing my post I will be raging LOL)

I always love the Mary Oliver poems I see posted here, so decided to finally check out a full collection of hers (in this case, Dream Work). It did not disappoint.

Sitting in the sun and reading poetry is the best way to spend a day.
