Join us tomorrow for the Yes! Knoxville social hour and Monday at Food, Space, & Place

Yes! Knoxville -- we're a group dedicated to supporting housing diversity, transportation choices, and great public spaces -- is having our May social hour tomorrow (Sunday) at Flock starting at 2 pm.

Join us for chit-chat about transportation & development issues, and we'll also learn more about the City's new bicycle facilities plan!

We'll also be speaking Monday night at Food, Space, & Place. You can learn about how our work fits in with efforts to improve access to healthy food in Knoxville.

We hope to see you soon!

Hey friends, you have an opportunity right now to help shape the future of our city! Where should housing, stores, and other stuff go, and what should it look like? How should our streets change, or stay the same? All these decisions will determine whether Knoxville becomes more affordable, more sustainable, healthier, and more livable as it grows over the next 25 years. And Knoxville’s next Comprehensive Plan will guide all that.

There are a series of listening sessions starting TODAY where you can have a say in what that Comprehensive Plan looks like. The Comprehensive Plan is a strategic plan that genuinely guides Knoxville’s future – zoning and other regulations in the future will have to follow the Comprehensive Plan. So getting this plan right is essential for our city’s future.

We urge you to attend one of the in-person events if you can, and to bring along a friend or family member. Your attendance and what you have to say really matter!

And if you’re unsure what to say, here are some suggestions from Yes! Knoxville:

  • Knoxville should allow duplexes and other middle housing in every neighborhood
  • Knoxville should build streets for everyone – not just people in cars
  • Knoxville should create great public spaces where people can hang out and connect with others

If the city hears only from the people who oppose housing choices and fight every bike lane, that will shape our city for the worse. That’s why they need to hear from you during this round of listening sessions and throughout this plan. Show up and say Yes!
