I want to make this game super pretty

Are there any 'must-have' visual mod lists you guys recommend for maximum pretty?

Also, let me know if there are any specific compatibility issues I should watch out for between the major visual overhauls.

I'd also like to a see any video or screenshots yall have.

What would a battletech roguelite play/feel like?

Been racking my brain to make it make sense in universe. Most RL's have some sort, "... and then the day restarted but you're stronger" shtick that makes dying over and over make sense.

I guess it doesn't need to.

A more worrisome problem would be the lack of variety. Combat is just missles, cannon's, lasers and the occasional kicking. How they ever turned it into a ccg I don't know. I guess they didn't really (didn't stop me from buying 60$ worth on ebay last week because I like the art).

I need players to larp turn- based battletech in mw5

We're turning ff off and we'll be using mech sheets.

This is a horrible idea but I just wanna do it once.

Any mods for small maps only or better ai spawns?

Love the game but vanilla trudgery is real.

Any help would be hot.

Crash and burn.

Unplayable, 3 med rifles but it shows 3 different caliber sizes.

Not even sure what mod is doing what here. actually I think its vanilla bug but still.

Unplayable.

For example, I like the mod Mech Delivery that adds the ability to purchase mechs/equipment because it makes sense at the very least to be able to buy ammo for most weapons in most places but I won't take advantage of picking up heroes w/e I want.

Hmmm. That just gave me an idea. What if I only buy hero mechs from Mech Delivery but at 5x their value (too much? too little)? I'd also only allow buying class of mechs I already have. So no jump from lights to heavy. I'll likely keep it but increase the markup to 2.5 for regular mechs and 4x for heres (maybe more, maybe less).

What do we think?

I'd even go so far to say I wouldn't mind an expected chance of succcess similar to a roguelite. Where if I don't pinch pennys and/or get lucky I'll straight go bankrupt.

A couple of things I already plan on doing to self limit and increase diificulty:

- No Cantina. Everything 'stock'
- I'll use the Mech Delivery mod but with alot of restrictions. Ammo anytime, weapons never, no endo or xl, mechs at 2.5x to 3x. Heroes can only be bought with deliver at 5x the price.
- ... your answers here.

What I don't want is just adding/subtracting/ setting limits for arbitrary values that don't change really change how I play or just neccesistate more time spent. For example I could self limit myself to a certain speed or no upgraded weapons but thats just is an issue of less and more.

Thanks in advance.

Now for general mod hunting questions,

Looking for mods that can do the following:

  • Speed up in-mission time? I know you can slow it down but I haven't seen a speed up mod. There's a deprecated one from 5 or so years ago but it doesn't still work sadly.
  • Fix the paintjobs on most clan mechs where the weapon pods can't be painted?
  • A comprehensive slowdown mod? I seem to only be able to get in like 7 missions a year or so at start. I'd like to stretch that.
  • I'm using Adjustable Battle Values but It didn't seem to work near end game before clans. I was almost always atlases, plus no bull shark ever. Is there anyway to ensure mech variety throughout the game
  • Any mod yall would like to suggest.
  • OH I almost forgot is there anyway to calculate a score of a run? Maybe say see how much wealth you can accumalte in a certain number of years? I could do this myself but It'd be cool if there was a mod for it.

Thanks again.

Always found it weird that my lancemates would be shooting at something that isn't picked up on my scanners. I really don't want to use up 5 tons just for this feature.

u/Yenii_3025 — 8 days ago

I added this mid run after comepleting two previous runs.

I think only a 1.75x markup is abit on the low side. I'm think more along the lines of 2.5 to 3.

That would make the early hero units with double heatsinks near 30 mil but I could still get my fav mediums and such early.

Yes I know certain missions exist that almost require a single light. But outside of that the game always devolves to max tons and max dps.

If I'm being honest I think this is probably my biggest issue with MechWarrior games. That due to accuracy being a non issue due to inputs there's no additional defense for lights due to speed. And mediums too.

I really hope in the future they have a mechanic that makes light mechs, mediums and skirmishing tactics more viable.

Might have to be an entirely new game.

Argue for what era the live action tv/movie should take place. I'm thinking the helm memory core and clan invasion are the easiest to envision.

Are we actual in trouble aesthetically now that the lead art designer is leaving?

How are they solving introducing new players now that we're starting in ilclan for the new box? Won't that cause too data over flow?

More to come.

Edit: I should've waited and posted this with my completed questions.

Thank you for all the responses.

So far it looks like the ideas for a show/film are extremely varied.

Also it looks like my worries regarding the artwork are...unfounded? Or rather I didn't read well enough to understand whats going. Thats on me.

The intro box answers actually make alot of sense. The game is fairly simple eventually. I wonder what data they had to trust in players ability to want more choices quicker then they have in the past 30 years.

Holy crap this thing is over tuned. I'm was had a AWS with 3 of them and I'm going to unfit them right now.

They just remove any challenge.

u/Yenii_3025 — 11 days ago

I've already put super chargers in every mech. But it'd be great if I could just remove the super large maps from the pool.

any mods yall could suggest or missions/maps I can avoid?

Or is it entirely avoidable? I think, if my maths right, its a 25% increase in dps from just the dmg increases and cd's. Or is there a mod that circumvents it or cheats or lets me pay with c-bills? (i wrote isk intiially lol)

Sounds like its alot, but honestly, I can't be bothered. I always forget until about 10 missions in that they exist, and by then I've out paced the requirements. Like, It still wants me to collect locusts and I'm rocking warhammers.

My goal this run is to get ready to fight clans. and 25% increase in dmg sounds good. But ug I do not want to do a bunch of early missions in hopes of getting specific enemies to spawn?

I know the coyotes mission pack allows certain mission types that are mostly this. I can't remember what they're called (please remind me). I also would like to be able to make sure the quality of their pilots and mechs goes up.

Speaking of which is there a mod/setting that ensures better loadouts on enemy mechs?

Really curious how this would play out.

I know I lt will break the arcade feel but even fpses have expanding cone of fire.

And for that matter why no heat affecting accuracy?

You'd actually get something from tcs and c3 suites.

Please bare with me I'm just theorizing. I'm not an expert, I've played I think 4 actualy battletech matches around the 5k bv.

My question is:

Are several light mechs equalizing the BV of a few heavier mechs (heavy/assault) actually as powerful?

I thought I had a simple answer in offensive power declining in the fewers heavies but not the lights. But seeing as how they likely become combat ineffective after one shot I assume its kind of the same thing when compared to losing a single weapon on a larger mech?

Reason I'm asking is between the Hbs game and mw5 (I know they're completely different from tabletop), there's basically no reason to ever not run your maximum available tonnage worth of mechs.
