I got voted most shy in my middle school's 8th grade year book back in 2007
I didn't even know that was a thing, and it made me extremely uncomfortable, and still bothers me with how tone-deaf it was for the school to single me out and do that to me to this day. Near the end of the school year before year books were printed, I had teacher's and staff smiling at the doorway of my classroom one day, calling me out to the hallway to have my picture taken with a male student, Ryan, who also was voted most shy. It didn't occur to me to decline, to speak up, or have any say in the matter. I didn't think to tell adult authority figures no. The picture was unflattering and embarrassing in the year book. 🥲
When I've looked into it, it seems like schools stopped voting people with that at 2012 the latest.
I'm curious who else on here may have also had this experience or something similar happen?
I wasn't expecting anywhere near as much as attention as I received on a selfie post I submitted late last night, and I was tired clicking in and out of so many messages, didn't accept, ignore, or report them. Amongst the 100 initial requests, there were a handful of refreshingly bland/seemingly well-adjusted individuals I had skimmed through and took mental notes of and had intended on accepting and replying to today, but they were all gone this morning after the app crashed while I was replying to a comment, with the exception of 3 random messages being located in my messages section oddly marked as "recently viewed" with a tiny clock on those particular users. I wanted to make comfortable, informed decisions, and hopefully accept decent quality people to chat with. The choice has been taken from me, and I'm confused and can't help but dwell on the issue.
Why did 3 random messages I didn't remember reading end up mixed in with accepted messages, and is there any way to restore the now missing chat requests. I feel bad not getting back to the people I clicked on and vetted as not seeming to have ulterior motives and seemed to have a bit of humility to them. Everything I received from around midnight until 6:40AM are mysteriously missing, and it's bothering me.
I'm still learning how to use and navigate the functions on here, but it seems odd and wrong for so many chat requests to up and disappear like that. I'm not used to messaging people on here, so I'm a little under the assumption that after so many hours, viewed yet unresponded to messages self delete or time out essentially? I doubt that's the case, though. Just trying to understand and rationalize a likely bug. I've only ever used this account on the app, so hopefully something just needs to be tweaked, but I'm not sure what or how.
