So I just got a beautiful Pro Plus Soloist SLA2, in gloss black. It is the most comfortable guitar I have ever played, but like every guitar made outside US or Japan, it comes a little "unpolished".
2 very minor finish defects which I am okay with because the way the guitar feels kinda makes me ignore them.
Sharp fret ends, I tested 3 guitars in the 1400 dollars range (an LTD Deluxe, Strandberg and this Jackson, all made in Indonesia) and they all come with pretty sharp fret ends. Again I can go past this because this doesn't affect playability. Problem is all of them have Stainless Steel frets which is a pretty hard material to sand down, I don't have the tools to polish the frets yet.
But the biggest problem I have which makes me want to return the guitar is, the fretboard is not perfectly even, in the 12-17 fret area there are some higher/lower frets, there aren't big differences between the fret height, but enough to make it buzz when I set the action at the high E lower than 1.50mm(it is around 1.20mm now, I can deal with the buzz but I wish I could achieve the 1mm action). Now despite all this, the guitar is very comfortable and easy to play even at this current set up, it's just the "I wish this 1400 dollars guitar could achieve the 1mm low action"
So yeah, it makes me want to, either return the guitar and order the same model again with the hopes that this one comes with a more even fretboard?
Or save double the ammount of money and get an American Series, which makes me think, is it really worth double the price to pay just to have a guitar with perfectly polished frets and perfect straight fretboard?
I am not familiar with the quality standards that Jackson has with their guitars, at this price range, so that's why I am asking here.
