Bought a brand new Bottega Andiamo Pouch on Chain from Mitsukoshi Ginza in April — I was so excited that I paid for it without inspecting it first! And then I noticed signs of wear and tear after leaving Japan. Has anyone experienced this?

The problems I found:
- Both bottom corners are scuffed and the leather finish is worn through
- The base of the bag is visibly creased and distorted — like it's been set down on hard surfaces repeatedly
- Edge stitching along the flap looks frayed
- Gold hardware has micro-scratches

I'm pretty sure I was sold a display piece without being told. The wear is too consistent and widespread across multiple areas to be from just handling during the sale.

What I've done so far:
- Contacted BV global customer care via email with photos and my receipt
- They asked for a photo of the serial number but I don’t think it comes with it and I can’t find it anywhere. It doesn’t even come with a box.

My questions for the community:

  1. Has anyone been sold a display piece by BV or any other luxury brand without being informed?
  2. Has anyone successfully gotten an exchange or refund from BV for a similar issue, especially for an overseas purchase?
  3. Is this level of wear on corners and base something that can happen just from being a display piece, or does it suggest longer use?
  4. Any advice on how to handle BV customer care to get the best outcome?

Would really appreciate any advice or shared experiences — this is my first BV purchase and honestly feeling quite disheartened.

Thanks in advance 🙏
