Is playing short handed worth it with the rake?

I recently play a late night session and there was 4 players remaining. 3 of the players were short stack except for me. After like 15 minutes I asked the dealer how much is the rake for 4 players. He said it's $1 for the BBJ and $3 rake. I said wow that's a big rake for only 4 players. Also after $1 tip I figure this game is -EV. We're all losing to the rake. The other players didn't seem to know or care. About playing for a bit more I said I'm going home or let's join the join the other table. Everyone agreed to join the other table which had enough seat

He often play on Hustler Casino Live stream high stakes game. He said he makes high six figures with poker and youtube income. It's a really good income but he'll buy in for $200k-$500k covering other players too. So he is basically buying in for a portion of his yearly income in a high stakes game. That's the equivalent of someone making 50k a year and buying in for 20k. I'm guessing he has other source of income, backers, or relying or sunrun.

1/3

Mp opens to $20

Hero in btn calls with 44. Sb, utg, and utg1 also call

Pot is $100

Flop is T74 rainbow

Mp cbet $45. Hero, sb and utg call

Pot is $280

Turn is A

Checks to hero and I bet $175

Sb think for a bit then jam. She cover hero and I have $550 behind. Some bit of history with this player she tend to limp call preflop and is a TAG. Hero tanks and thought this might be a set over set situation. I did also put her on AT as well. I ended up folding..

After the hand another player asked what she had. I didn't hear but the other player said oh I thought you had set of 77 or TT.

Later I talked to a few players that I folded a set of 4 and they said that's a bad fold and they're never folding there. smh

There seem to be way more cons than pros of playing poker for a living. Being a professional gambler is often look down upon and misunderstood. Getting first place or winning a bracelet in a tournament is glorious. Playing high stakes cash game and winning big pots is amazing. Beside that there aren't much glorious thing about being a pro poker player. I mean if you have a good career you can say you make low 6 figures and have good benefits etc.
