Anyone know of formal training in construction (solar) contracts and insurance?
Hello solar folks,
A co-worker of mine is seeking to get better at insurance and contract work. We do a lot of commercial, and small utility solar, batteries, and other things.
My googling found me these online certifications:
CRIS — Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (IRMI) The most relevant credential for construction insurance. Five online courses covering the insurance and risk management needs of construction projects and contractors, costing $169 per course or $845 for all five. Topics include contractual risk transfer, indemnification provisions, waivers of subrogation, insurance requirements in construction contracts, CGL, umbrella, builders risk, surety, and specialty lines like pollution and professional liability. Massachusetts-based agents can pursue this through MAIA's partnership with IRMI. Online/self-paced, not onsite, but it's the foundational credential.
ERIS — Energy Risk and Insurance Specialist (IRMI) The solar-specific companion to CRIS. Covers renewable energy technologies including solar and wind, insurance strategies across construction and operational phases, and regulatory frameworks. Courses are $169 each and can be taken online or at IRMI's in-person Energy Risk and Insurance Conference (ERIC).
These are a bit much, as she isn't going into the industry, but taking the course could be enough, and who cares about the test/scores/etc. Goal is to do better in the office.
Thanks all.
