Mount Saint Helen's eruption - 46 years ago today

Hard to believe that it was 46 years ago today that Mount Saint Helens erupted.

The geologists had been up there studying earthquakes for the preceding few weeks, they knew something was happening.

When it erupted the ash traveled to eastward and fortunately we weren't in the path of the fall out.

We did get a little ash on our cars, but nothing like the inches deep mess in eastern Washington, Idaho, and Montana. The sky was black in the middle of the day and you couldn't buy an air filter for your car.

Long time ago, but still a very clear set of memories. What are your memories of the eruption?

EDIT: removed apostrophes where permitted

Where and When would you go?

It's the future and time travel has become a thing. People aren't just deciding where to go, but also when to go for vacation.

Sorry, we gotta have some rules: You're there, but you can't affect anything (no lotto numbers, or stock tips). Where and When would you go for a few days?

I would go to the beach in the summer of 1979. Had my kick-ass Chevelle, enough money for gas and McDonalds. It was a fantastic summer and I would like to experience that again.

Friends group as we age

Maybe it's me, but do any of you find your group of friends getting smaller as time goes by?

It seems like as I've got older I've become a lot less tolerant of people's bullshit, and I'm tired of putting in the effort to remain social with them. Not all, but many of my male friends have become self-absorbed shits and have lost the ability to be polite in social situations.

Anybody else find their friends group slipping?

Today (May 2nd) marks the 40th anniversary of Expo '86.

After all these years Expo is some of my fondest memories ever. It was an amazing point in time where the zeitgeist can't be recreated.
