What makes people play Ruby and Sapphire instead of Emerald?
Outside of wanting the Hoenn Dex Pokemon absent from Emerald (which are all in XD) or ability to trade in eggs/non-Hoenn Dex Pokemon before you beat the E4 (which could be bypassed through Colosseum)?
