A massive data breach has reportedly hit China's premier supercomputing facility in Tianjin, with hackers claiming to have siphoned off over 10 petabytes of highly sensitive information.

According to reports from CNN and cybersecurity analysts, a hacker or group known as "Flaming China" remained undetected within the system for approximately six months.

What was allegedly stolen:

• Defense & Military: Classified missile and bomb schematics, weapon system simulations (including tests against HIMARS and aircraft carriers), and radar data.
• Aerospace: Research from major state firms like COMAC and AVIC.
• Science & Tech: Complex bioinformatics data and nuclear fusion simulation records.

How it happened:
The attackers reportedly gained entry via a compromised VPN domain. Once inside, they used a botnet to slowly "trickle" data out to multiple servers over several months to avoid triggering security alerts that usually follow large, sudden data transfers.

If verified, this could be the largest data heist in China’s history, potentially allowing foreign actors to reverse-engineer years of state-funded research.
