This afternoon I was harshly reminded that UHF is not a finished product

This afternoon driving the family in our 2026 R1S on the freeway. Clear sunny day. Light traffic but everyone moving at 65-70mph. Had UHF engaged.

Then suddenly when passing under an overpass, the visualizer thought the shadow of the overpass was a car located sideways in the lane. Abruptly flashed a red steering wheel to take over and hard hit the brakes itself. Probably dropped 20mph before I was able to quickly push the gas (to avoid being hit from behind) and take over.

Absolutely nothing in the road except a shadow.

Been using the UHF to and from work, stop and go traffic for a while now. Always cautious especially when cars nearby seem to be doing erratic things. But this was the most scary and frankly dangerous behavior I’ve ever seen. Can’t see how this is approved by regulators for mass public use in this state. Clearly a beta product that needs troubleshooting in a closed course.

And trust me. I’m sad to made this conclusion because I absolutely love the car.
