New Fare Data: United Polaris Base is a Stealth Price Hike

Saw this posted on FlyerTalk. United has loaded base business purchase options into pilot routes. It is now significantly more expensive than Delta for regular business class on at least one of these (ORD to EZE) as a result.

While both airlines offer a lowest business class price of $4,540, Delta provides a standard non-refundable ticket for that amount, whereas United only gives you the highly restrictive base fare. To get a standard, non-refundable business class ticket on United ($4,940), you are now paying the exact same price as a premium, fully refundable ticket on Delta. If you want a truly refundable ticket on United, it will now cost you $5,440.

"The carriers look to have last raised their cheapest roundtrip fares by $100 on March 9th -- ORD-EZE is shown below (UA P fares, DL Z fares).

UA loaded Base P fares on April 7th replacing old non-refundable P fares at same price point (PNX6HUBZ). DL fares have not changed with non-refundable Z fares starting at $4540 base (ZLXQ7NDP) and refundable Z fares at $4940 base (ZLXQ7RDU). UA regular non-refundable biz fares are now the same as DL refundable at $4940 base (PNX6HUDZ) with refundable fares starting at $5440 base (PNX6HUEF)."
