System of a Down vs Nirvana Album Showdown

Who wins this for you?. I'm going to give my opinion, but don't just disagree with me in the comments, give your own thoughts

Debut: Self Titled vs Bleach (Winner: SOAD. SOAD was already making music videos and touring with giants unlike Nirvana who were truly underground. It's a far more complete record with better production and songwriting. Bleach is more primal and lofi, but it lacks the diversity that each track of Self Ttited has.

The Mainstream: Toxicity vs Nevermind (Winner SOAD: This one is nearly impossible for me, Toxicity is the more intense, chaotic album and it will move your body, Nevermind is cooler and a perfect record from beginning to end and each track is an earworm with simplicity done to perfection. Even though Toxicity has a few misses when it gets a little too absurd like Bounce, the energy is too infectious and unique so I will have to go with SOAD)

The Underrated Fan Favorite: Steal this Album vs Incesticide (Winner Nirvana: Steal this Album is incredible too, but for me you can find this exact sound in Toxicity or Self Ttited, you won't miss much if you haven't listened to it. Incestide is the perfect combo from distorted punk on Bleach to the pop songwriting on Nevermind and it's a pretty badass, unique sound that is just as good as Nevermind)

The Follow Up: Mezmerize vs In Utero (Winner: Nirvana: Even though I enjoy Mezmerize greatly, Daron's singing does turn me off in multiple songs, but I have no other complaints. In Utero is not Nirvana's best as I think Nevermind is, but In Utero has such an organic, natural sound where you are in the room with the band and that's where it clears Mezmerize and I also love Dave's drumming on every song)

The Introspective Finale: Hypnotize vs Unplugged (Winner: Nirvana: Two completely different albums, but they share the same concept of ending their discographies on a softer note. Unplugged is majestic and it has so many beautiful songs like Oh Me and Man Who Sold the World. Hypnotize however lacks Serg's screaming and that intensity is what made early SOAD so special and again Daron's voice can be earpiercing to listen to)

So I think Nirvana was more consistent, but System of a Down had a higher peak basically)

Album recommendation Day 1: In the Brazilian Bag! - Sergio Mendes

Gonna start a series doing underrated albums that I think are 10/10s

This is my personal favorite Sergio Mendes album. It's super beautiful and serene and far less radio friendly than his bigger albums meaning the production is more focused on creating a live atmosphere like you're sitting in the front row watching the band perform. There's some incredible guitar work and singing too. Everything feels intimate and authentic and it blows by quickly because you are just listening to some amazing jams for a quick 30 minutes.

Please check out Shelter Island Heights by Scott James if you want a modern take on Jeff Buckley

I discovered him through a cover that XXXTentacion did on one of his songs when I was younger, and his music has always stuck with me

Simply otherworldly and yearner music that’s flew under the radar. He dropped it in 2017 and it’s honestly the closest thing to Grace I’ve ever heard and it’s honestly more explosive with better production

It’s only a 6 song album, but it’s too good not to listen

Seems the only ideas people have when it comes to rebrand is to return to something old. What's a sports team that should just do entirely something new and not look towards the past for inspiration.

Teams that have only had one look their entire existence like the Carolina Panthers don't count because it's impossible for them to look at the past for inspiration
