Is there a simple way to coat something like stainless to make it resist biofilm buildup when used as a material in implants similar to how grade 2 titanium performs?

I think in the 90's we solved biofilm issues with a whole slew of things im just wondering if we ever worked out some simple way to coat homemade implants in emergency situations.

Maybe something clever you would like to put out there for someone else to potentially work on?
