Long time listener, first time caller...
I picked up having sardines and spinach as my regular lunch in starting keto - also to patch the anchovie-pizza shaped hole that is now in my heart. Just my luck, my local supermarket here in Australia started having sales on one of the fancier brands of tinned sardines that can be found around here - presenting my first haul.
At first, I was a bit apprehensive about eating the bones, skin, and all, but the sensations grew on me and I found it added to the experience. It's like a poor man's ortolan bunting from the sea lol. I drizzle it all with olive oil and sprinkle salt so it isn't *totally* utilitarian, but I'm looking forward to trying different flavours soon
The tinned fish scene in Australia is pretty barren. A can of Fishwife or Patagonia will run you up 10-20 dollarydoos, maybe even more depending on the type of seafood inside - saw a tin of quality smoked oysters going for $27... This box of 18 tinned wildcaught sardines ran me $45 AUD even with the sales going on 🫠
