How common is CHS?

Does anyone know how common this disease/syndrome is?

I personally had two of my friends who also had it medically diagnosed , but i feel like i know some other people who probably have it and are in denial about it. The hard part is the prodromal phase, which can be more subtle but also de habilitating (lack of appetite, stomach pains, general nausea).

What percentage of daily weed smokers get this?

I think there should be educational posters in every dispensary in america educating people about the symptoms of CHS, because i feel like so many people i talk to have never heard of it.

So obviously i struggled to sleep for a bit after quitting, as everyone does, but now i feel like i am more tired than i was before i was smoking. It’s not even in a bad way. it’s usually in the late afternoons i’ll just get hit with a wave of tiredness and if i let myself ill pass out for about an hour or more. And i’ve been completely sober, no nothing. Just wondering if others experienced something similar.

I haven’t been sober for a super long time, but not super short either. i like to keep my time sober to myself, it feels personal.

Rimworld is my favorite game i’ve ever played. It’s one of those games where even if i’m not in the mood to play a game, if i start i will be there for hours. I have over 600+ hours in only vanilla rimworld and it would be cool to try out some mods but there are so many it’s a bit overwhelming. Any recommendations for someone like me?

I posted on r/leaves about CHS . Why do people come in there talking like they know what CHS is and what it’s like when they obviously have no idea what they are talking about . It’s rlly frustrating having people say, “CHS isn’t caused by stopping smoking weed it’s caused by prolonged use”. Duh if you are smoking weed for a long time, you are most likely using weed to cope with the symptoms, so when you stop the symptoms will get worse. Obviously it is caused by long term weed use, that’s the whole point. Sorry just frustrated with people

Update: the r/leaves Mods took down my post with over 220+ upvotes 😑

A lot people are saying a lot of things about CHS on my other post about it. I just want to share some studies and links so people can do their own research. CHS isn’t just violently throwing up, it isn’t just being sick while actively smoking weed , it is much more nuanced than that, and a lot is unknown. I said this in my other post, but please check out the subreddits on here about CHS (cannabis hyperemesis syndrome)

Well they won’t let me post links. Look up Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome studies and you will find studies by The national institute of Health, John Hopkins university, and The George Washington Univeristy. I recommend checking those out

I’ve seen a lot of people complaining (rightfully so) about the struggle to eat after quitting, or relying on weed to eat. I just wanna put this out there that CHS is a real and serious syndrome, people have died from it before. I personally have had years of experience with CHS. It is evil because it turns weed into a physical addiction, where when you stop smoking, you can’t eat, feel sick, etc. It takes at least 14 days( i’ve heard of up to 2 months) of 0 cannabis products for your symptoms to subside, and this can be the thing that makes people think it’s not the weed that is making them nauseous or lack their appetite. The other evil thing is that weed is the only thing that in the moment will stop the symptoms, but overall it is causing all the stomach issues. It’s also something that not everyone has, so it can be easy to convince yourself that you don’t have it because “my friend smokes all the time and he’s fine”. But if you are nauseous without weed, or can’t finish a meal without weed, you should look it up and read some other people’s experiences. There’s good subreddits here that have a nice community of people going through the same thing . You aren’t alone, and there’s nothing wrong with you, you’re on the right path. You’ve just gotta push through

I was a very heavy pot smoker, switching between flower, carts , edibles , etc. I loved weed. Look forward to waking up and getting that little bit extra high. Sneaking to the bathroom to take a quick hit of the wax. I was a daily user from about 2017. I started to have stomach issues around then, just starting with slight nausea and lack of appetite. I was told i had chs in 2019, after terrible weeks of nausea, but i didn’t believe it. The weed was the only thing that made me feel better, so how could it be causing this horrible discomfort and nausea ? in 2020 it got terrible, weeks of throwing up in the morning, feeling nauseous more than i wasn’t. i finally got the courage to quit, and after a really rough 14 days of no smoking, i felt amazing, the best i had in years. This sobriety lasted about 3 months, and then i slowly fell back into smoking again. Super infrequently , then every couple weeks then once a week , all the way until i was back at square one. Sick as a dog, denying that weed is the true cause. This same cycle happened to me 3 more times after that. The dangerous part is that we are told how weed isn’t addictive, and we see people around us who are not addicted . But we are not them. It isn’t fair, but CHS turns weed into a serious, potentially life ruining drug. We are not like others, and that’s not fair, but the truth isn’t always fair.

People who don’t have CHS truly don’t understand the torture that it puts your through on a daily basis. I’ve told people about it before and they say, “ oh i wish i had that so i could stop smoking” or “ oh i wish i had that so i could lose some weight.” People don’t understand that this disease is debilitating and it turns weed into a physical addiction, where the only thing that makes you escape the torture is the weed. But i do understand, and i am here for you. I want you to know you are not alone, and that if you see sobriety through, the high of a healthy life is better than any high i’ve experienced before ❤️

My roommates have a cat that they’ve had since she was 5 weeks old. Definitely too young, but they were offloaded her, so they had no choice. she’s about 10 months old now. I know about solo cat syndrome, and this cat definitely has it. she is very sweet sometimes, but she plays aggressively, to the point where i don’t rlly pet her too much because she will bite me and hold me with her claws 1/2 the time. But that main issue is the crying at night time. It’s destroying my roommates sleep and therefore his mental health. I don’t know what to do, they ignore her, put pillows against the door so it’s quieter, we play with her in the day time and evening, they even take her out the house and on “adventures”. I grew up with cats, but i had 2 cats who were related to eachother, and this was never a major issue. Please any advice would be helpful. I know getting a second cat would be helpful, but honestly we’re struggling to put rent together, i don’t think we could afford another cat .
