Got good image-generation skills? Here's a gig you might be interested in (US only) [$50-$60/hr]

So, a new role just opened up at Mercor - for skilled Image Generation Experts & Prompt Engineers, and I guess this sub is a good place to share it. The role involves crafting precise prompts, generating high-fidelity images using state-of-the-art (SOTA) models, and applying expert post-processing techniques to refine assets. This is a W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC, with the opportunity to be placed in an extended workforce. Apply Here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prompt Engineering & Generation: Craft, iterate, and refine complex text-to-image and image-to-image prompts using SOTA models (e.g., Midjourney, DALL-E 3, Stable Diffusion, Nano Banana 2 / Gemini 3 Flash Image) to achieve specific artistic and technical outcomes.
  • Asset Refinement & Post-Processing: Utilize professional editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator) to seamlessly integrate AI assets, perform inpainting/outpainting, and fix common generation artifacts (e.g., hands, text, structural inconsistencies).
  • Quality Evaluation & Benchmarking: Review generated outputs against defined aesthetic and technical rubrics, identifying edge cases, prompt adherence failures, and systematic model weaknesses.
  • Spec & Golden Sample Creation: Contribute to the development of prompt instruction specs and create flawless "golden sample" image datasets to serve as internal quality benchmarks for model training.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate directly with Researchers and Ops teams to scope data projects, define visual quality criteria, and support evaluation efforts at scale.

Core Qualifications

  • Professional Generative Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in visual arts, graphic design, or digital media, with a demonstrated, direct focus on AI-driven image generation.
  • SOTA Tool Proficiency: Extensive hands-on experience generating images using leading AI models, combined with mastery of professional post-processing software (Adobe Creative Suite) for advanced editing and compositing.
  • Advanced Prompting Skills: Proven ability to iterate on complex instructions to manage lighting, composition, style adherence, and photorealism.
  • Analytical Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to apply evaluation rubrics consistently and objectively to visual media.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills—able to document prompt strategies clearly and provide actionable, structured feedback.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and solve complex visual problems in a fast-paced environment.

I've copy-pasted most of the job description into this post, but feel free to check out the full job listing for more details if interested. I'd also like to add a disclaimer that this is a referral post, and I may be compensated by the company for any candidates who apply through my links. Some parts of Eastern Exorcist are just so damn soothing 😌

Was just going through old stuff in my gallery and found this clip from Eastern Exorcist. I remember recording it just for the soothing music and the beautiful scenery.

So, I got myself two handheld consoles in February - a PS Vita and a Switch OLED. Of course, the two are very different - one retro and one modern, with their own strengths and weaknesses. I ended up enjoying the Vita a lot more due to it's compact form factor and greater portability. However, what stood out to me the most was it's battery life, especially on standby. I've only played a 2D game on either of the consoles (Child of Light on Switch and Salt and Sanctuary on the Vita), and the battery life felt similar - if not slightly better on the Vita.

However, the Vita's battery seems to retain power far longer than the Switch when in sleep mode. I haven't really player on either of them for about 3 weeks, and the Switch for more than a month. I didn't power them off completely - I left them both in sleep mode. The Vita is barely losing any charge at all, whereas the Switch seems to be discharging completely within 2 weeks. At one point in the past, I had to put away the Vita in the middle of a game. I left it in sleep mode and forgot about it. When I picked it up 4-5 days later, the game was still just as I had left it. I'm not sure how much power it consumed during the time since I hadn't checked the battery percentage while putting it away, but it was still impressive. And it's not just the Vita...I have seen posts about similar battery life on the PSP as well.

So this is what got me wondering - why can't a modern handheld console deliver the same level of battery backup as an old, discontinued one?

I was going through the posts on this sub and noticed a lot of scam task posts offering exorbitant amounts of money for training AI. If something sounds too good to be true (like making $1000 a week through very simple tasks), it often is. That said, you can legitimately make decent earnings by helping train AI models if you know where to look. There are legit platforms that hire generalists and specialized professionals from various fields to help refine and train AI systems of all kinds, from simple AI assistants to powerful agents and research-grade AI models. I have personally made it my full-time thing now, but it also serves great as a side job, as most of these opportunities are remote, with very flexible hours.

I'd personally recommend checking out Mercor as they have a lot of open roles in various domains. I'll share a bunch of quick links to some of the roles, but feel free to explore the full list on the platform to find what suits you the best:

There are also other open roles in fields such as humanities, languages, data analysis, sciences, finance, and more - since I can only post 5 links max per post, I am unable to cover them all. If you'd like me to check for any specific opportunities, let me know in the comments, and I'll be happy to take a look for you and give you a referral. Apart from Mercor, there are also other platforms you can work on - a great thing about being an independent contractor is that you can work with competitor companies simultaneously without any issues, as long as you don't share any confidential info or stuff like that.

I suppose you might be wondering what I'm getting out of all this. Well, I'm gonna be fully transparent here - the links I shared are referral links (you'll be registered as someone I referred), and the company may compensate me for referring good candidates. However, rest assured that my referral bonus is directly tied to your earnings (with no cost to you, ofc) - so unless you actually make any money on the platform, I won't either! Just wanted to let you know I'm not trying to get you to sign up for something that will only benefit me :D. You can, of course, visit the website directly by yourself and apply (without using my referral link), but if you found this post helpful, I do hope you'd use one of my links so I can grab my little bonus as well :)

Based on my personal experience, I can confirm Mercor is a legit platform and pays on time. There are also other platforms I can share, and I only ever recommend the ones I have personally worked on.
