Retirement homes

At family dinner with this weekend, Mom was talking about downsizing, so afterward, I checked out retirement community prices. A lot of places make you call, but Calvary Homes was good enough to have a price list on its website.

The buy-in at CH is about the cost of a modest house. I imagine other places are pricier. What will happen as more people can't afford to become homeowners? Will retirement communities start shrinking?
