I’ve noticed a weird shift in my hobby habits since I started using AE heavily. I used to buy finished retail products, but now I find myself buying cheap base models or raw components on AE specifically to tear them down and modify them myself.
Whether it’s swapping out switches and keycaps on a budget mechanical keyboard, upgrading parts on a 3D printer, or buying blank art toys and jewelry components to hand-customize them, the platform is a paradise for raw materials. You can get 925 silver fittings, specialized tools, and replacement hardware for pennies compared to hobby shops.
It’s reached a point where if a product doesn't require at least a little bit of DIY assembly or tweaking, my brain finds it boring lol. Anyone else obsessed with using AE purely as a supplier for your manual crafts and modding projects?
