italian storebought food items

Dear Italians & foodlovers

I‘m going to be in Italy soon (not for the first time). I already saved a lot of restaurants in googlemaps. Now one of my petpeeves while in holiday is checking out local supermarkets. Although I‘ve been to Italy many times, I haven‘t spent much time in supermarkets yet. I know, many products are better bought fresh, but for consistency it’s nice knowing products from supermarekts.

Therefore I wonder, what are some storebought products you think are superior to everywhere else. Or things you looooved as a kid and still eat from time to time. Or items you miss while abroad. Or ingredients you need for cooking and can‘t find abroad.

for reference: I‘m Swiss, so good wine and pasta are things that are easily found here as well. But for example I really enjoyed the storebought focaccia from Conad, very random - but way better than any focaccia we can buy here.

thank you in advance!! And if you want some suggestions for Switzerland, let me know!!

What store-item to try/bring home

Dear Brits and UK-foodlovers

I‘m going to be in London (third time) for a couple days in June and already have way too many ideas what to do. I love checking out foreign grocerystores and bring some stuff home. Last time I‘ve bought:

- mixed spice, for baking welsh cakes at home

- bags premade dough for pies and yorkies

- different cookies, although I‘m happy with anything from Walkers

- bacon, we don‘t find the same cuts here in Switzerland. I always bring some home and have orders from friends sometime as well, haha.

- crips chicken and thyme (we have a similar one here, but it‘s not even half as delicious)

Now, I would love some suggestions what to try. Foods you miss while abroad, items you can only buy in the UK but are staple in your household, best chain to eat/buy sausagerolls, you favorite cookiebrand, best variety of crisps…

Oh and if someone knows a place where I could buy the NZ fizzy drink L&P I would appreciate that as well.

thank you in advance!! And if you want some suggestions for Switzerland, let me know!!

craved Yorkshirepudding…

Swiss here. Wife wanted to cook spareribs and i craved yorkies. Unusual maybe, no gravy (don‘t hate me) but we loved it nonetheless. First time baking yorkies myself.
