Taiwan with a 6-month-old: what would you prioritize

Hi everyone! 😊

Looking for your opinion as we plan our Taiwan portion of a longer trip!

We’ll be traveling for about a month with our 6-month-old baby, starting in South Korea, then Singapore (for my husband’s work), and ending in Taiwan with grandma 🥰 We are FOODIES, love nature and to visit cultural landmarks.

In Taiwan, we’ll have 6 full days plus 2 travel days (April 25 – May 2). We’re hoping to see a lot but possibly at a slower pace with little one, likely based in Taipei with a few day trips and perhaps *one* short overnight.

If you had to pick just ONE of these, what would you choose in our situation?

- Hualien / Taroko Gorge (take guided highlights tour; scenic drive, viewpoints, coast like Qingshui Cliffs/Qixingtan)

- Alishan (mountains + famous train) open to hiring a car to make it easier

- Tainan or Taichung (simpler city option for food, culture, and relaxed pace)

- Doing day trips from Taipei (the classics; Jiufen, Yangmingshan National Park, Yehliu Geopark + Keelung, Beitou, etc.)

- Anything else?

We’re treating this trip as more of an “appetizer” and would happily come back for a longer trip later on.

Which would you prioritize with a 6-month-old, and why?

Thank you so much 🙏
