I know it's up to interpretation, but here's why I'm right: So, after the End, he's an ultra Taveren and can light his pipe with his willpower. Rand Al'Thor just ended an age by achieving victory for the light. He's the Light's Champion! This is his reward to use, abuse, and enjoy. I think he earned it. Being Rand Al'Thor sucked!
