Benefits of LAL over monofocal

From what I understand, the LAL is a monofocal that is adjusted to whatever depth you want, right? I think I am a little confused because after paying $5000 for a multifocal which was followed up by an LAL for $6000 due to the halos and starburst. The multifocal should not have been implanted in me because I had Lasik. I have been stuck wearing these UV protection glasses for a month and they want two more weeks before adjustment. I asked the doctor why we didn’t use a monofocal and he didn’t answer other than we can adjust this how we want it. Why didn’t we make the decision of what we wanted before the implant? I’m afraid the answer is because the doctor makes more money with an LAL where insurance pays for the basic monofocal. Is that true? Is there an advantage of the LAL over the monofocal?

As a f(70) I had a bladder and colon lift with mesh attached to the sacral prominence 1.5 years ago. Since that time I have slowly had increasing pain in that area that has spread all over my pelvis, down my glutes, and upper thighs. It has been worsening and I thought it would get better. Last week I had full pelvic MRI done due to how much this is affecting mobility and sleep. The bladder surgeon was very dismissive and was like, “Nah, it’s been too long, that’s not it”. The colon surgeon was only practicing one year and I wonder if he tightened the attachment too much. There is no other reason for this pain since I am 122 pounds and I exercise regularly and have had no other issues or injuries to cause this. I have read that surgery to fix it is not very successful. I don’t know if I should go out of state? I’m afraid this will only get worse if I don’t do surgery. Please help.

▲ 7 r/Fibromyalgia+1 crossposts

Fibromyalgia first appeared in the location where I had an epidural done for a pregnancy delivery. Started slowly at that area and spread throughout my back and in time to my neck, arms, and legs. Now older f(71), recently had internal organ lift called sacrocolpopexy with attachment to the ligament on the sacral prominence inside of my pelvis. That pain started at that attachment and has spread through my pelvis and slowly starting on my upper thighs, not like sciatica though. Full MRIs showed nothing significant. My PT guy says there’s only some tendinopathy on my medial glute insertion bilaterally.
I use pain patches, my usual pain meds, and it is only better with Voltaren gel. There seems to be a central sensitization with Fibro people. Assuming recent surgery triggered this inflammatory type pain that is spreading. It’s so painful!
Has anyone else experienced this? They say Fibro often starts after some trauma trigger. I was so active and happy and now this is so very painful and paralyzing. Any feedback would be so appreciated.
