making an umbilical cord wet spec

i’ve never seen this done so i’m looking for advice on how to go about it. im 34-35 weeks pregnant currently and i plan to cut the umbilical cord off my placenta to make into a wet specimen in this gorgeous whiskey bottle that my dad gave me. however, its hard to find information on how to do this bc i’ve never seen it done. i’m not comfortable using formalin/formaldehyde bc of how dangerous it is especially after birth and with me nursing a newborn. would i be able to inject the cord with 90% ethyl alcohol and soak it for like 2 weeks, then rinse it and suspend it in alcohol? or do i NEED formalin? thank you in advance

umbilical cord wet specimen

i’m currently 34 weeks pregnant and decided that i want to cut the umbilical cord off my placenta and make it into a wet specimen in this pretty whiskey bottle my dad gave me. i have a question though. i was wondering if i would have to use formalin injections and soaking to fix and preserve it or if alcohol would be enough? i’m sorry if this comes off as uneducated but i’ve tried doing research on this and i feel like nobody has done it. my worry with the formalin is idk how it will affect the gelatinous tissue. thank you in advance
