V1Mid & V100 - Remote Zoom Control?

Hi all,

I’m testing some new gear this week and have bought most of the recent Godox stuff for testing.

Is it possible to control the zoom position of remote flashes using a V100 or V1Mid as an on-camera sender? This is possible on the X3Pro (though it’s quite hidden) but I can’t find the feature on the V1Mid and the V100.

I can’t see the setting for the on camera flash, but I’m interested in controlling the zoom for remote/receiver units such as the AD100II Pro.

Thanks! 🙏

FT433 Experience?

I’ve been a Godox user for close to ten years now but have never been truly happy. Compared to my Phottix system that came before and the Pocket Wizard system before that, I’ve never found them truly reliable for OCF. I’ve been rocking V860IIs with the original X-Pro trigger and last year added an iT30 Pro into the mix for on-camera fill. My primary use case is shooting wedding dancefloors. My biggest beef is after things wiring just fine during setup, sometimes things go haywire during a first dance and either stop triggering reliably or start giving full power pops.

I also use the AD300Pro as a portable fill for group photos. I also trigger this with the X-Pro. I’ve been broadly very happy with everything about this flash.

With the new season approaching I’m determined to get to the bottom of the problem so have bought loads of gear to test.

3x AD100 Pro II

1x V100C

1x V1MidC

1x iT32 + X5c

X3 Pro Trigger

I’d come to the conclusion that the reliability was a function of older kit that was inherently less reliable plus the radio interference that’s ever more pervasive in some venues. I am hoping that the X3 Pro on camera (or one of the newer speedlites) + the AD 100 Pro IIs may be a combination that proves more robust and reliable.

However while researching I came across the FT433 system as I noticed that the new AD100 Pro IIs support this. It reminded me how bombproof Pocket Wizards were back in the day and I wondered if the issue I’m having might simply be a result of all the interference on the 2.4GHz band.

I’ve also bought the FT433 transmitter and receiver to test but I’d love to know if anyone else has experience with this system in a wedding environment.

I often find that my kit works fine until the band are setup and then it seems to go haywire. My theory is that the band are using loads of equipment that use 2.4GHz and this further muddies the spectrum. I’ve often tried changing radio channel and use the ID function on all my kit. Neither has proved to be a magic bullet.

The big problem I spy with the FT433 is that I can’t integrate it with any on-camera flash so if I want that puff of on-camera fill I’ll need to live within the 2.4GHz X-System.
