Jobs in applied math besides academia and finance

I posted this in the applied math subreddit too but I thought why not ask here as well.

First, a little context, Im a student contemplating a degree in applied maths because I enjoy mathematics alot and I want to learn the analytical and problem solving skills related to said degree.

However, many people that enter that field seem to go to finance i.e: quants, actuaries, analysts etc. So I just wanted to know if anybody has done a applied math degree but went into a diff field. I would also very much appreciate if there you have any pointers for someone like me 🙂🙂.

Thankss in advance

Is finance and academia really the only options for applied math majors?

I just wanted to ask, besides finance, quants, actuaries and such, is there anybody that did a applied maths degree and went into different areas for work.

I want to do applied math for the versatility and flexibility, meaning I want to have the analytical and problem solving skills of mathematics and the determination to survive a rather difficult program such as applied math. However, most people who enter applied math seem to go to the areas I mentioned above, so now I am conflicted whether applied maths is versatile or really limited

Any advice/help would be much appreciated 🙂
