Im curious about USB reset

I'm curious about a topic that's mentioned a lot here. Many times when OP gets infected with malware, some users tell them not to just factory reset their pc because some malware might survive, instead they tell them to use an USB and reinstall windows from a clean computer or something like that. I would like to know how all of this works and the steps and why is safer, if there's any yt video about this I could also learn from there. Thanks!

Need help with virus scan

Hello, Im trying to help my girlfriend because she tried pirating a game (Tomodachi Life) and although the game looks fine and it's working, I suspect it has a virus. I ran a malwarebytes scan (with rootkit) and detected a scareware, which I'm unsure if it's from the game or comes from something different. Is there any way I can be 100% sure her laptop is not infected? She also told her brother to install the game the same way she did, however he already deleted it, does deleting everything he downloaded make the virus disappear? If he runs a malwarebytes scan should it detect the same scamware as the one my gf had? Also, she followed a tiktok tutorial, some people say it has trojan and other don't say a thing. Essentially I trust the MB scan because I heard it has a very good reputation but still, im getting paranoid because im scared of their computers being infected, so I would appreciate any help, thanks for reading

Securewalle incident

My girlfriend tried to install an emulator on her laptop following a tiktok tutorial for playing the new Tomodachi life, she followed it and she was happy playing it. A few days later an pop up appears saying that she have a trojan and must install something, I suspected this was a scareware an closed, it said it was feom "SECUREWALE". After that I pass by the tiktok video and there's comments saying its a malware, a Trojan... Idk what to do now, I'm going to try to use malwarebytes and delete everything she installed. Can I get any tips from someone more experienced? Has anyone experienced something similar?
