I hope Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds gets a remaster in the not too distant future

Probably one of the more obscure Star Wars games out there, back when Real Time Strategy games were still fairly popular, this game was among them. While little more than a reskin of Age of Empires II (same engine and everything), it was still a whole lot of fun just the game it shared the engine with. It was fun to pit the Rebel Alliance against the Trade Federation, or Gungans against the CIS, Republic against the Empire, did it make sense? Hell no, but we didn't care. On top of that, there was plenty of fun to be had in the campaign section as well, even if a few campaigns were a bit predictable at times. Echuu Shen-Jon remains a personal favorite Jedi that no one else has heard about.

While the original games are available on Steam and still fun to play, I'll be brutally honest and say that the graphics are a bit rough around the edges nowadays. And considering how Age of Empires II has been enjoying a very well done revitalization the last few years, maybe this game can share in that success in the near future.

For the uninitiated, Age of Empires II put out a very well done "Definitive Edition" with crisper graphics, more civilizations, and the same fun gameplay that made it a classic, but they've gone above and beyond with it, continuing to develop new content for it to present day. I wanna say that currently there's over 30 civilizations you can choose to play over the original 18. This also includes new campaigns and other fun content. Can you imagine Galactic Battlegrounds getting a similar treatment?

As fun as Galactic Battlegrounds is, it never had content past the original trilogy, and first two prequel films. That means Revenge of the Sith never got incorporated. And as fun as this game was, I'll be brutally honest and say that Age of Empires was usually my go-to since compared to the 18 civilizations I could play in that game, Galactic Battlegrounds topped out at a measly 8; the Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, Wookies, Gungans, Naboo, Trade Federation, Republic, and CIS. There's room for more.

Picture this: a remaster on the level with Age of Empires II that not only incorporates Revenge of the Sith, but adds more content in line with present-day Star Wars, be it the Sequel trilogy (love it or hate it), Clone Wars series, or other media that have since come out. I can see civilizations in things like the First Order, maybe a pirate-like civilization like the Pykes, maybe a civilization based on Dathomir, the Mandolorians, the world of Star Wars is so much bigger now that it's honestly a bit surprising that this game hasn't been shown the same kind of love that Age of Empires has been. I get that it is the more obscure title, and RTS games aren't as popular as they once were, but I don't think a remaster of this game, alongside some much needed updated content is a hard sell.

I think it could be a very fun project. New civilizations, new campaigns, new heroes and villains, all under that same RTS chaos that made Age of Empires so fun back then, and still now.

Anyone remember this game? Would you like a remaster of it? New content? Anything in particular you'd hope for?

Question About Battlefield Earth

So, I really want to see this "episode" but I've heard a lot of things about this, how if you have a special edition DVD, the audio track won't sync properly or whatnot so I'm just wondering. If I were to go to the website right now and purchase Battlefield Earth, is it just an audio track for a specific version of the movie, or is there an option to buy this with video?

I'm hesitant to spend money unless I know exactly what I'm getting

REPOST: Bullsnakes Mating

Reposting as I originally mistakenly thought these two were in the process eating each other but I guess Bullsnakes don't really do that and the bite here is common mating vendor. Thank you for the corrections! It was awesome to come upon these two while out delivering! Gorgeous snakes!

I hope we get some more "rough cuts" in the future at some point

For those wondering what I'm talking about, there's currently three "rough cut" episodes of the crew watching the movie and doing their riffs. It's more or less the "making of" cut of the riffing segments, and honestly they can be pretty fun to watch. There's one for Swamp Diamonds, It Lives By Night, and Diabolik currently (thankfully, that link survived the recent purge of Paramount), and it's fun to see them watching the movie, doing their thing, before they pause for what would be commercial breaks, or the host skit, you see them just kinda conversing randomly, get up, stretch, ask for water, or even laugh at their own silly stupid jokes.

Diabolik especially, with it being the last episode of the original run, they laugh a lot at the gags they did over the years with them having fun with the song "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and at one point, there's even a roughly 3 minute clip the crew surprised Mike, Bill and Kevin with of various favorite silly moments of all the movies they watched together with them doing nothing but just laughing through it all. The rough cuts don't get nearly talked about enough.

I can't help but wonder if there's any more just kinda buried in a vault somewhere. I'd honestly love to see some rough cuts of more classic episodes, or even Jonah episodes. If anything, I really hope they consider releasing one for the upcoming 4 episodes. It's just a fun and unique look into how they interacted with one another while watching these silly movies out of character.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the kind sentiments after my post on Friday

While I'm definitely still in the processing phase of what happened, I am feeling a bit calmer. I've had a few instances of letting emotions out, which has honestly felt pretty good all things considered. I haven't heard any updates regarding the owner or owners of the dog, but I'm not really expecting any. I hope they're doing okay.

I'm definitely driving a bit slower nowadays and doing my best to make sure no animals have decided the bottom of my truck makes for a good place to rest, but I'm doing better, things are alright, and I just want to say how much I appreciated everyone's sentiments and advice.

Stay safe out there in the roads, and of any of you care for our four-legged companions, please give them a hug from me.

Especially the kind with dried mud trenches that make your truck go airborne if you so much as go more than 15 miles an hour. 🙃

I need some advice...

Today, one of my biggest fears on the job finally happened. While delivering a package to a stop, I ran over someone's dog.

I deliver in the rural parts of Colorado, and today, I was out much farther than I normally am. It's not even the route I'm used to for a Friday, but all the same, in rural areas, it's not uncommon for pet owners to let their dogs roam around the property freely. They tend to be very friendly most of the time, and enjoy visitors. As I pulled into this house, I parked, got the package, and got out. I wasn't greeted by any dog, and since normally, they are quick to make themselves known, I figured there wasn't one here. I delivered the package to the door, made my way back, got inside, and began to move.

I suddenly felt the rear tire hit something, and I heard that horrible painful yelping, and I immediately stopped. I saw no movement in my mirrors, but upon getting out, I saw a medium sized dog sitting underneath the truck, panting heavily. I can't even remember how I felt in the moment. But I ran to the house, and slammed my fist on every door I could find, trying desperately to get attention. With this being in a very out of the way area, service wasn't very good, and I was desperate to get and find nearby help. No one was home.

I cannot describe how sick I felt rushing back to my truck to drive off in desperate search of service to call my boss. I had no cellular service but by the grace of God, I found one area that allowed me to make a call to him, and he was able to call the customer in question. Apparently they were at a track meet, and in his words, they didn't seem very concerned that I'd just injured their dog. I don't really know how to feel about that last part.

I don't think I mortally wounded the dog or anything, maybe just a broken leg, but that only makes me feel worse in some regards. I don't know when the owner was able to get back, or how the dog is doing. Everyone I've spoken to about it is saying it wasn't my fault, I didn't see them, I had no way of knowing, but it doesn't really help. I feel wrong. I felt terrible when I ran over a wild rabbit months ago. I even feel bad if I run over snakes. Not only did I hit an animal someone loves and cares for, but I had to leave it actively in pain. As stupid as this might sound, I'm kicking myself that in my panic, I didn't even say a sorry to the animal. I mean yeah, it can't understand me, but if I injure an animal on accident on the job (I've stepped on a couple paws when they try to go on for love) I always give that "Aww sorry little guy" kind of way. And while I don't think the injury was too severe, that doesn't stop me from asking, "What if it is?"

Needless to say, I'm going through the motions. Upset that it happened, angry that I didn't see the dog, angry at the dog for choosing that place to rest of all places, and just desperately hoping they'll be okay. I know this is the kind of thing that must comes with the job, and I know I'm not the first or last person to have this happen to them, but I've got heard anything since the initial calls. I just want to know if the dog is okay.

Has anyone had this happen to them on the job? I could use some advice on how to properly process this.

UPDATE: I unfortunately got word that they sadly had to put the dog down. From what I understand, the owner was very understanding, and said they do not hold me at fault, but, I was really hoping that this wouldn't be the end result. I'm glad that at the very least, whatever suffering they were going through is over, and that they could be with their loved ones. Rough way to end the day...

Little guy, I didn't know you, but I'm sorry I didn't see you. And I'm sorry that your life had to end so soon... It doesn't feel like anything I can say can truly define just how horrible I feel for what happened. Sleep well...

Yeah, it was shot after he left, but it's still a hilarious commercial. "Let's just go sledding."

On one hand, it is an incredibly well-executed Lwaxana Troi episode, which can be a rarity. I think her relationship with Timicin is really well done, believable, and the two play off one another really well. It's a well written conflict of ideology between the two.

But man, it also makes me ever so slightly annoyed at how hilariously stubborn some races of Star Trek can be. I don't think there's a more egregious example of this than the Kaelons. They present a very cool moral foil in their approach to ritual suicide, but I find it almost comical how they ALL expect Timicin to kill himself as a species, no matter what. Like... here he is, doing work to save their world, and as soon as he turns 60, it's like "NOPE. NO. MORE WORK? NOPE. WE'RE NOT LISTENING."

Like, the man isn't senial. And when he asks for asylum, their xenophobia increases to a comical extent. I'm surprised the threat of war wasn't in play. You'd think that Timicin won't fit asylum caused worldwide riots down there with how they react. They even go as far as to kill his actual work to SAVE THEIR PLANET just because he wants a little more time to test his work. I feel like this entire situation could have been presented so much better. You'd think there would be some higher up down there who would have the level head to say "Look, give the man another week, what's the harm?"

Again, I really love the dynamic he and Lwaxana have, but man... I'm with Lwaxana when she says "Why bother saving your world at all? If its time has come, let it die."
