Kindle Scribe for $50 but can’t login - worth it for jailbreak or is it a brick?

found someone selling a Kindle Scribe for $50 "For Parts". It’s basically brand new and looks totally fine, but they said it won’t let them log into an Amazon account. Supposedly no account works.

I’m trying to figure out if this is worth messing with or not.

If I picked it up, would jailbreaking actually make it usable in a normal way? or is it pretty limited without being able to sign in?

Also, does this usually mean the device is blocked/blacklisted, or could it be something fixable?

At $50 I’m tempted to just offer $30 and see if they take it, but I don’t want to end up with something I can’t really use.

Would appreciate any input from people who’ve dealt with this before.

I dont think its stolen because they have the original package as well fwiw

Does Proton VPN support auto-connect only on public/unsecured Wi-Fi?

I’m currently switching from Bitdefender because I realized I wasn’t really using their cybersecurity suite — I was basically just paying for the VPN, so I figured I’d switch to a dedicated option.

I tried Surfshark, but I’m running into an issue with auto-connect. It seems like it either connects on every network or not at all, and their bypass/exclusion feature is frustrating — if you connect to the VPN while on your home network, it removes your network from the whitelist.

What I’m trying to do is pretty simple: Have the VPN auto-connect only on public/unsecured Wi-Fi, but stay off on my home network unless I manually turn it on.

Does Proton VPN support this?

I’m still within the 30-day refund window with Surfshark, so trying to figure out if Proton would be a better fit.

Switching from Bitdefender VPN — is Surfshark missing this auto-connect feature or am I doing it wrong?

I recently switched over from Bitdefender VPN because I realized I was basically paying for a full security suite and only using the VPN.

Overall Surfshark has been solid so far, but I’m running into one really frustrating issue with auto-connect and I’m not sure if I’m missing something.

On Bitdefender, I could set auto-connect to only trigger on unsecured/public Wi-Fi (like networks without a password). That was perfect because I didn’t have to think about it and im not a person that stays on VPN 24/7

With Surfshark, it looks like auto-connect is more “all or nothing.” If I turn it on, it connects on every network.

I tried whitelisting my home network, but now anytime I need to connect to surfshark as needed on my home network it removes it from the exclusion list, which is incredibly annoying.

Is it possible on surfshark to set up autoconnect the way bitdefender does it?

If not, are there other VPN providers that support this kind of conditional auto-connect?

I’m still within the refund window so trying to decide whether to stick with Surfshark or switch.

45-Day Update: MOVA P10 Pro Ultra Gen 2 vs. Gen 1 - I'm Retiring My Gen 1

It’s been about 45 days since I made the switch from my MOVA P10 Pro Ultra Gen 1 to the Gen 2. My first post was mostly about the initial specs and unboxing, but after six weeks of daily runs with a dog, a cat, and a long-haired human, I have a much better handle on whether this is actually a "hands-off" experience or just a minor upgrade.

The Dock: A Massive Quality of Life Improvement

If you’ve owned the Gen 1, you know that the removable tray was a constant maintenance chore. It got dirty quickly, and whenever the robot was out cleaning, you were left looking at a pretty "ugly" and sludge-prone base. The new fixed stud design on the Gen 2 dock has been a total game changer for me. I haven’t cleaned the base a single time in 45 days, and it’s actually crazy how clean it still looks. There is zero buildup or sludge. I can’t scientifically test if the water is exactly 212°F, but the pads come out looking fresh every time, and the 1-hour fast dry is so quiet I barely even notice it’s running. This lower-maintenance dock design alone makes the Gen 2 worth it for me.

2. Intelligent Emptying and Hair Management

I was initially skeptical about the "Intelligent" auto-empty setting, but after a month and a half of heavy pet hair, I’m a believer. I haven't dealt with a single clog or bin issue, so I have to assume the algorithm or sensor is doing its job. It’s been completely hands-off in terms of dust management, which was one of my main worries moving away from the standard timer-based emptying. Even the standard rubber brush is holding up great. I don’t really deal with hair tangles, and the design where you can just pop the axles off makes it so easy to maintain that I don’t feel like I’m missing out on an "anti-tangle" specific brush at all.

3. Mopping and Cleaning Performance

The cleaning performance is a definite step up from the Gen 1, and you can actually hear it. The 12 Newtons of pressure sounds different when it’s working; it sounds heavier and more intentional. You can hear how much more friction the Gen 2 is generating over the gen 1. I thought I would miss the "dirty water sensor" from the first generation that triggered re-mopping, but I honestly don’t. The Gen 2 is so much more efficient on the first pass with that higher RPM and pressure that the floors just look better right away. It’s tackling dried-on stains much more effectively, which was one of the areas I really wanted to see an improvement in.

4. Navigation and the Cables

The shift to the laser-based system has been a bit of a mixed bag, but mostly positive. On the plus side, it handles permanent obstacles like my floor-length curtains and those tricky sled-style dining chair legs much better than the Gen 1 ever did. It hasn't gotten stuck on the curtains once, whereas the Gen 1 struggled there constantly. It handles clothes, socks, dog toys perfectly and hasn't gotten stuck once. However, you have to be careful with cables. The Gen 2 is honestly pretty bad with cords it’s like it doesn't even see them. It actually forced me to do some much-needed cable management around the house, and once I tucked those away, it’s been smooth sailing. If you have a relatively clutter-free home, it’s a dream, but you definitely can't leave charging cables lying around.

Final Verdict: Is it worth the extra $100?

After 45 days, I’m officially retiring my Gen 1. Even though the Gen 2 usually costs about $100 more, the combination of the lower-maintenance dock, the better mopping pressure, and the fact that it doesn't get hung up on my curtains and sled style chairs makes it an easy recommendation. It’s a much more "set it and forget it" robot as long as you put in the effort to hide your cords from it. If you're deciding between the two, definitely spend the extra money on the Gen 2—the lack of dirt in the dock tray alone is worth every penny.
