I don’t know what else to call it but the signs are there. My classroom teacher never gives me any praise but gives the paras she friends with praise And loving attention constantly. I think I’m able to now officially call it jealousy after what is occurring during teacher appreciation week. My 1:1 parents gave me and the teacher a card. When the classroom teacher presented my card infront of a class with 5 other paras she said and I quote “I have some to give you that’s for your student”…. It wasn’t for my student it was an appreciation card from his parents.

Maybe I misheard her, maybe she said “from” instead of “For” but I really don’t think that excuses the awkward wording. If I was a para she was friends with it would’ve been a more warm exchange. To me it felt like an obvious way of not giving me the praise I’ve earned.

I’m a first year para and I’ve had a terrible experience in this self contained classroom. An experience other paras who use to be in the self contained classroom in years prior have also recounted. The teacher is extremely clique how she moves.

Luckily for me my 1:1 spends the afternoons in Gen Ed, so I’m only in the self contained classroom during the mornings
