I and many of my friends have been genuinely fearful of the Cryo Archive. A big part of that is the feeling of obligation to bring in "Purple" gear just to survive, knowing we aren't as skilled as the other players.

I’ve started to get over that fear, but now I’ve hit a wall: my Purples are dwindling. To keep up, I’m spending 10–15k credits just to meet a 5k requirement. From both a learning and incentive standpoint, Bungie and the player base would benefit from more casual, less "decked out" players queuing for Cryo. Adding a buyable, pre-set Cryo-Sponsored kit would go a long way in giving players the nudge they need to learn the layout and mechanics without the punishing overhead.
