Are we ready to have the conversation about bm and their mental health?
**Trigger warning** Yesterday a black father went on a shooting rampage in Shreveport, LA. The man killed 8 children between the ages of 1 - 14.
To be honest, reading the details of this crime made me so upset. Those innocent babies had their lives violently taken from them. They hadn’t even begun to experience life yet.
I am already seeing how dismissive black men are concerning this situation. The “this is what simps do” or “fellas stop being tender” comments are coming from black men. Others are completely silent on this matter as if those babies lives didn’t matter.
Honestly, there is a larger discussion that needs to be had, concerning the very noticeable mental health collapse of black men.
*I am not saying this does not happen with other groups of men*. I am saying black men vehemently avoid any mention of going to therapy, or mental health checks.
Their therapy a lot of the time is a toxic outlet that fuels more problems. Drinking, smoking, gambling, sex, listening non-stop to echo chamber podcasts. Black men have actually become very similar to the other groups of men they made fun of back in the day.
Black men used to joke “white boys be killing the whole family when they get mad”.
Now look what is happening.

•Vincent Brothers
•Raymond Childs III
•Marcus Wesson
These are just a few.
There will be more instances of this. But we - black women - need to start getting very vocal about the problematic mental state of a lot of black men in the community.
