Unemployed since January, savings almost gone. I need advice please 🙏

Hi everyone, I’m in a really tough spot right now and I could really use some guidance.

I’ve been unemployed since January. Bills are piling up, and my savings are almost gone. I’ve been applying, but I feel like I’m either doing something wrong or not positioning myself well enough.

Background:

- 5 years in BPO (3 years in managerial roles)

- Handled e-commerce, healthcare, and telco

- 2 years VA experience (through family referrals, no direct foreign clients yet)

I feel like I should be competitive, but I’m struggling to land anything, especially in remote/VA roles.

I’d really appreciate honest input on these:

1. Resume vs CV – what actually works better for remote/VA jobs?

2. If CV is better, what should I focus on to stand out? (structure, content, etc.)

3. Given my background, what’s a realistic asking rate so I don’t underprice or price myself out?

If you’ve been in a similar situation or work in hiring/VA space, I’d really value your perspective.

At this point, I just want to understand what I might be doing wrong and how to fix it fast.

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply. I really appreciate it.
