I’m using Lang Super Soxx. Don’t ask me what I’m making because I’m SUPER well known for being fickle and having no problem with frogging. For brioche, I like to have a two-stitch selvedge edge. I did a backward slip knot (meaning that to tighten it, you pull the short end and not the working yarn). Into that slip knot, I knit, yarn over, knit, yarn over, knit. There are now five stitches on the needle. Next row: knit 2, yarn over and slip one, knit 2. Now the selvedge stitches are set up and there’s a single brioche stitch in the middle. For that stitch, I increased the same way I did the first time: Knit, yarn over, knit, yarn over, knit into that center brioche stitch. I’m very pleased with the effect!

Actual photographic proof that these two brothers might occasionally enjoy each other’s company. Parker is on the left. He’s larger and solid. Salem is on the right and very svelte. Salem is a bully and beats up on Parker. A lot. But they’re both love bugs to my husband and me.

The coordinating hat I made with leftover yarn from my latest hoodie

There’s a reason Cascade Yarns calls this stuff Fixation. I love this stuff so much! I like using pleats to shape a crown but finagling a way to do that in brioche . . . I feel like I need a cocktail. No pattern

I love using pleats to shape the crown of a hat. But I have to say that finagling that feat with brioche made me seriously rethink my life choices! So fiddly. Cascade Yarns Fixation. No pattern. I used up the yarn left over from the hoodie I just made.

I just finished a hoodie and had some yarn left over. I’m so happy with how I started this hat. I held a strand of each color and did a Twisted German Cast On. The first round I did a plain 1x1 rib. The second round I did the set up row for the brioche. I love doing two color brioche in the round because I don’t even need stitch markers for the round. One color will always be in the front and purled. The other color will always be in the back and knitted.

I used Cascade Yarns Fixation which is a cotton yarn with a tiny bit of spandex. It’s so springy, even brioche isn’t as wide as it normally is! I didn’t use a pattern. I just made it up as I went along. The look on my face is because my husband can’t just take a picture . . . No seams but I did work modularly. I made the sleeves first, then each side with pockets. The two sides were combined using the hood. The strings you can see were the ends that were clipped after I washed it. (Pardon the mess, my husband and I are getting our house ready to sell)

Pardon the mess, but we’re getting our house ready to put on the market. My husband takes the shittiest pictures of me. Cascade Yarns Fixation (I’m obsessed). I forgot to take a pic showing how open the back is. Essentially it’s two halves of a cardigan that are held together using the hood. I did absolutely no seaming for this. The pockets I joined as I worked them. I’ll trim the ends after I wash it but they’ve already been woven in.

Fresh off the needles! I used Cascade Yarns Fixation which is a cotton DK yarn with a tiny bit of spandex. I’ll get my husband to take pics later. I’ve already woven in the ends but I won’t cut them shorter until after I give it a good wash.
