Whelp, red "Electrical SystemMalfunction" got me this morning...
Hey guys,
I got the red "Electrical System Malfunction" this morning as I was pulling out of the drive to take the kiddo to school. Luckily it was on the road and not a dead stop in the driveway so I could take my truck, but ... man! I stopped behind a parked car to let the traffic go when the dash just blew up with errors and finished with a red electrical system warning, car was already stopped as I was waiting and that's where she stayed until the tow came.
I was getting constant TPMS errors on almost every startup, and the occasional yellow system warning, but I thought it was just the 12v battery (that I've yet to replace... been very lazy about it!) but I guess it was more of an early warning sign that something larger was to come.
I used the Audi app to organize a tow, which cost me $167 (can that be reimbursed, especially if it's a warranty fix for the motor or the high voltage system?) to go 7 miles. Neither here nor there, it is what it is. I just wasn't expecting it. I can always claim it on insurance as well if I needed to, I guess...?
My question to the much more knowledgable and longer tenured users here: what are the chances that this is the coolant ingress issue or high voltage battery and not some insanely expensive part? I'm really hoping it's the motor or battery as that's covered by warranty. The car is a 2022 E-Tron with 76500 miles (ish). Based on what I could research, this is likely the coolant issue, but ... I guess Audi will tell me when they've diaged the car, it went into the workshop at 3PM today, which is pretty impressive given that it got to them around 11AM. Gotta give them props for that.
Thank you, all. I appreciate any insight!
