Dear Diary,
Today was a bad day. One of the boys that picked on me found my diary and read it aloud in class. I punched him in the face and got called to the principals office. Papa came and took me home. I got the chancla again and when Mama got home she gave me the belt. They didn’t even hear my side. Only Bubba believed me…He snuck me dinner tonight. It’s not the first time he’s done this so I’m used to it. At least today’s dinner was tamales, so I suppose that’s a plus. Maybe tomorrow will be better…

Dear Diary,
Today I rode my first ever big wave! The wave was beautiful! It felt like I was surrounded by blue beauty! Papa and Caspian cheered for me so loud, it woke Mama from her beach nap. She threatened the chancla in both of them. Hahaha! After I got out of the water, Caspian got me the biggest mangonada he could find! It was one of the few times I could have dessert before dinner! I hope the rest of spring break goes just as fun as today!

Feliz Navidad, and happy holidays! Today Mama and Abuela and I made fajitas and Dulce! Bubba and Papa brought out Abuela’s old guitar and they played Christmas songs on it. I sometimes miss Abuelo, he died before I could remember anything. I sometimes wish I could have known him. But I know he’s watching from heaven. I better go get ready for church or Mama will get the belt again.
