Getting into the GFX System as a Medium Format Film Photographer

I currently shoot with a Pentax 6x7, which I use for most of my work and an Fuji XPro 3 for travel and fun.

As Film is quite expensive and the Pentax Bodies aren’t infinitely repairable I am looking towards the future for digital alternatives.

Would the GFX System be a good way to stay in medium format and have a camera system that can work alongside my Pentax 6x7? I know it’s sensor isn’t close to the size of the 6x7 Format, but it’s definitely on the bigger side and would get me as close as I can get to my current images.

I prefer bigger and bulkier cameras that slow me down and make me think more before I shoot. (Which is also one of the reasons why I use my Pentax way more then my XPro). And I also like my lenses to have character and not be sterile, so I’d mostly be using adapted vintage glass. For example I love the 105mm F2.4 on my Pentax for Portraits and I’ve heard that the Mitakon 65mm F1.4 to be quite similar.

The other medium format options like Hasselblad and especially PhaseOne are out of question because of their price.

Would the GFX System be the way to go here to be a worthy companion for my Pentax 6x7? Or should I go with a Full Frame System instead?

Also for context I’ll also be getting into Large Format at some point, so I may use the adapter to utilize it for architecture with a GFX. But mainly I’d shoot film with it obviously.

Is the 165mm F2.8 worth considering for protraits if i have the 105mm F2.4 already?

My current setup consists of the 55mm F4 and the 105mm F2.4. I especially love the 105mm and i use it alot in my portraits. The 5mm also finds use sometimes for more environmental portrait shots and of course in my landscape photography.

Now i am considering expanding my Kit a bit and i've been looking at the 165mm F2.8. I love the images it can create, but i worry that i would barely use it because of the amazing 105mm F2.4.

Is the 165mm F2.8 still something i should consider? Or should i look at other lenses?

For context i mostly shoot Portraits, Architecture, Nightscapes and Landscapes.
