Any senior and wise in tech got career or life advice
Tldr: stuck, boring life.
I am a foreigner thinking about working in Malaysia after my graduation, I worked online here and there from my uni year and now I get paid around 14k RM. But kind of feeling stuck. My experiences are not in big companies and I find it hard to get callbacks or interviews in those companies. Also since I am maybe considered fresh grad, my pay will also be maybe less as I am not sure how they will evaluate me + non-local maybe auto filtered. I also looked at neighbour SG and similarly no call backs, but since their currency is stronger maybe easier to increase. I am mainly looking at popular companies like grab, ali, razer, etc. maybe working in more popular company can later help my cv visibility rather than staying same one for longer. I can also stay since the company is growing fast and my pay, but don't know if it will be that much growth in future.
My expenses are kinda low, single guy, I save most of my income and my parents are also kind of well-off so no financial stress. My work environment is also very relaxed and honestly after completing my task i mostly just scroll reels. So it's kind of boring.
So my question how should i try to progress as I am not getting new interviews and stuff. Any companies in Malaysia I am missing. Since I don't have that much needs, I kinda just want to work more and maybe make money.
I think I'm a pretty okay engineer, good at system design, have experience in go, cloud, ai (have A* paper), and project management.
Also what do you guys think about masters and PhD, let's say in moving to better paid countries, since I don't think any SWE jobs really need it.
Feel free to comment on any part.
