They‘re assist trophies sure but I think them getting upgraded to playable fighters could be fun. itd be fun to see Pac fight his main nemesis's in smash, Blinky would be the base while the others are alts like the Koopalings, they could have different cutscene final smashes based on their mechs like cloud‘s alternate final smashes, and I think there’s a fair bit of moveset potential that could be fun or unique (Turning into the large ghosts from arrangement for example) considering they have pac man throwing fire hydrants at people

I decided to do a test with the CPUs to see how well their AI performed as they’re known to be fodder for Gigantes online. all level 9, outside of moving the camera I didn’t attack at all. one CPU died at the start from running into the slow moving Gigantes (it still moves automatically), then they spent the additional two minutes driving in circles while ocassionally attacking it and by the end they didn’t come remotely close to winning. Now take this online where Gigantes is moving, attacking and many people are on compact stars. Because rooms online are filled with bots, the team of riders has a massive handicap because the CPUs don’t help, are fodder that run the lives counter down and fodder that run the timer down because they don’t do much of anything. in fact you’d be better off without them for the additional fact that they increase Gigantes’s health. for as fun as Gigantes is, unless you can manage to have a full lobby of human players the bots bog the experience down because of just how awful they are
