R32 Mini Split Inverter AC Gurgling/Bubbling Sound – Normal or "Purge" Install Damage?
Hey everyone, looking for a technical opinion on a sound my Inverter AC is making.
The Context:
The new unit was installed last winter, but the tech just "purged" the lines instead of vacuuming. I complained, so they eventually came back, did a nitrogen flush, and then vacuumed it. Temperature differential was around 12°C–14°C (NOTE: I don't think they replaced the refrigerant even though they told me they would do it).
Current Performance 7 months later during Summers:
- Cooling: It’s cooling fine. The room eventually cools down fine and a tech recently inspected that Amperage was in range.
- The Sound: I’m hearing a steady "blowing/bubbling/gurgling" sound behind the compressor vibration (turbulent refrigerant flow?)
The Question:
Is this gurgling sound typical for an inverter unit modulating at lower frequencies, or is it a sign of an issue or residual contamination from the bad initial install?
I’m less worried about the efficiency and more concerned about the longevity of the compressor.
If this is an issue, what are the things that I should request the HVAC tech to objectively confirm this issue (otherwise sound is subjective 🤔). Should I push for a full refrigerant recovery and fresh re-gas to be safe, or are just Delta T and refrigerant pressure checks enough?
Thanks in advance!
