Curious what you guys think. I spent like $415 for a 16b drive. Came overnight. Seems to be from amazon's refurb themselves. I've bought all my drives from Amazon or amazon sellers, probably all refurbs. But usually their power on hours were 0. The current situation has made getting drives tough though. So far a day of straight transferring files (mostly redundancy rn to check for early failure). But I just noticed this has a 4.5 years of power on hours.
You think this is a concern? This is almost as old as my C drive, but that's a sata SSD.
I can't afford to have any kind of backup right now. I want to get a NAS, but that won't happen until 6 months at least, so I'm expecting a year with rawdogging this. Keep that in mind.
Power on count roughly matches my own server ironically. My C drive has 111 with 42k power on hours. So it seems to be similarly used as my old drives, and before this I had a bunch of externals that probably have about the same amount of wear... So it doesn't seem that bad...
