Why Choose TCL Art TVs? From A100 to A400 Pro Explained

Why Choose TCL Art TVs? From A100 to A400 Pro Explained

A400 Pro - NXTvision

Why TCL lifestyle TVs – The evolution of the PRO series

With the launch of our new A400 Pro in 2026, we’re taking a look back at the evolution of our lifestyle Pro TVs. While many art-style televisions prioritise appearance over performance, the TCL A400 Pro combines design with some of TCL’s most advanced display technology. Featuring Quantum Dot and now MiniLED's, delivering vibrant colours, deeper contrast, and an exceptional viewing experience - while looking aesthetically good too.

Europe remains the largest global market for framed Art TVs, with annual volumes between 300,000 and 400,000 units - that's alot of TVs (and competition!).

Nordics , Poland, UK, Netherlands, and France being the top buyers of Art inspired TVs

Start by looking at the A100 or "Living Window" a TV most have not heard of (and even finding information is difficult!)

A100 - Living Window

2018 TCL unveiled the A100 Living Window TV-an early step into design-led display innovation that began blending screens into the home environment.

By 2020, TCL advanced this vision with the launch of the A200 Pro Rotating TV.

A200 Pro

Designed to introduced a home-centric aesthetic with a rotating display enabled by a separated body and screen structure, offering a more "flexible" user experience.

Including a discreet motorised camera, fabric-inspired finishes, and a cable-concealing metal base. The A100 was recognised with the iF Design Award 2020.

A300 Pro

In 2024, TCL further evolved the category with the A300 Pro NXTFRAME TV-defined by the concept “Art in form, chic in space.” With its ultra-slim profile, matte screen, AI-driven art capabilities. it refined the balance between design and functionality. The introduction of flexible placement options, including a movable stand, reinforced its role as both a display and a lifestyle object within the home. 27.9mm Ultra-Slim Body* QLED – HVA matte Screen

Now in 2026, TCL introduces the A400 Pro, the latest evolution in its Pro lifestyle TV lineup-to further integrate design, performance, and the role of the TV as both a visual and atmospheric centrepiece in modern living spaces.

Access around 80 curated artworks in high resolution to

The Matte HVA Panel is a familiar strength within TCL Art TVs (Seen on the previous A300 models) recreating texture appearing more natural and paper-like, similar to readable tablets such as our NXTpaper.

It allows the screen to become a canvas rather than a digital display combined with the wooden frame it blends into the interior rather than dominating it. During the day, it reduces reflections, allowing comfortable viewing in bright environments without glare or distraction. As lighting conditions shift, the TV adapts to maintain a natural balance.

At night, A400 Pro transforms into a high-performance large-screen TV. It is built for consumers who want an Art TV without compromising picture quality. This is reflected in its specifications, featuring an ultra-slim integrated frame and matte HVA panel, paired with up to 448 local dimming zones (98"). A brightness sensor and TCL AI assistant optimise viewing, while 93% DCI-P3 ensures rich and accurate colour reproduction.

Helps dissipate heat even when mounted flush to the wall High-thermal-conductivity materials and an optimised airflow path help move heat away from key components to support stable performance over time.

The A400 Pro integrates a unibody frame with a light walnut woodgrain bezel, evolving from the white frame of the A300. The upgrade from QLED to QD-MiniLED significantly enhances contrast, delivering deep, accurate blacks, ideal for displaying artwork such as pieces by Michael Godard - who uses black backgrounds making his Art pop out (same idea is applied here)

New Large-format options, including a 98-inch model, allow the TV to function as a full wall mural, transforming living spaces and enabling users to display personal artwork at scale-from graffiti to elaborate art installations. I'm hoping we can get these on display in a gallery somewhere!

The 9.9mm ultra-slim unibody design (with minimal total depth when mounted) reinforces the framed-art aesthetic, with no external box or visible structural elements.

Connectivity is upgraded with Bluetooth 5.4 for stable dual-device connections, such as a headset and controller simultaneously, and Wi-Fi 6 for high-speed, reliable coverage compared to last year’s A300.

Art Mode (T-Exhibition) enhances the experience with a built-in gallery of classic works such as Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, capturing the use of colour and movement characteristic of impressionist art.

It also includes AI-generated artwork for creating your own interpretations of classic styles, as well as personal photo uploads-ideal for artists who want to display their work without the need for physical framing. This transforms the display into a customisable art, allowing you to show off your own work without having to pay to mount them! (I try to be an artist myself, so this is a feature that sells it to me)

Audio performance complements the visual experience. The A400 Pro features a built-in 2.0-channel speaker system tuned by Onkyo, delivering balanced, high-fidelity sound backed by decades of acoustic expertise.

The A400 also now work with Tutti-Choral allowing you to connect a soundbar and combine both the TV sound with the soundbar to create a larger soundstage.

Which 2026 TV models feature Dolby Vision 2 | Max on TCL

Which models in 2026 will feature Dolby Vision 2 and why?

Dolby Vision 2 will be available in two product tiers:

  • X11L (future OTA) Dolby Vision 2 Max - delivers the best picture on the highest performing TVs, adding additional premium features designed to utilise the full capabilities of these displays
  • C8L / Q8D & RM9L (future OTA) Dolby Vision 2 - brings dramatically improved picture quality to mainstream TVs, delivering the core next-generation capabilities made possible through the new Dolby Image Engine and Content Intelligence.

-

With the launch of new TVs, especially models like the X11L with peak brightness levels of up to 10,000 nits, one of the most common questions is around brightness. There is often a misconception that TVs operate at maximum brightness across the entire image, when in reality brightness is dynamically controlled and varies scene by scene. (This is why the X11L features Dolby Vision 2 Max)

Content is created to distribute brightness selectively, highlighting specific elements while maintaining overall contrast and detail. There are widely available demonstrations online that illustrate how brightness levels change across different parts of an image.

Dolby Vision 2 builds on this foundation through features such as Authentic Motion, a creator-driven motion control system designed to preserve cinematic intent while reducing judder.

Unlike conventional motion interpolation, which is typically controlled by the display, Dolby Vision 2 enables content creators to define motion characteristics during production. These settings can be applied dynamically on a scene-by-scene or frame-by-frame basis.

When supported content is played back, the TV applies these creator-defined parameters while adapting to the display technology (e.g. OLED or LCD). This approach aims to improve motion clarity while minimising unwanted artefacts such as the “soap opera effect.”

The broader challenge, however, is not just display capability but the availability of content that can fully take advantage of these advancements.

Dolby Vision 2 requires compatible processing hardware, as its advanced features place greater demands on the TV’s image processing capabilities.

-

We've reached an inflection point where TV technology has dramatically changed while artists continue to demand even more innovative tools,John Couling, Senior Vice President, Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories.

-

Rather than simply increasing brightness output, it leverages advanced processing, dynamic metadata, and AI-driven tone mapping to better utilise the display’s full capabilities. Delivering unprecedented peak brightness in combination with up to 20,000 dimming zones on the 98” model, it enables a level of contrast control and colour volume that pushes beyond traditional performance.

Content Intelligence introduces new tools designed to better bridge the creative suite and the home viewing environment. This enables Dolby Vision 2 to automatically optimise picture performance based on both content characteristics and ambient viewing conditions.

With AI-driven capabilities, Dolby Vision 2 adapts presentation dynamically to deliver an optimised viewing experience tailored to the device and environment.

Content Intelligence includes:

  • Precision Black: improves visibility in darker scenes while preserving creative intent
  • Light Sense: adjusts picture performance using ambient light detection and content-based reference data
  • Sports and Gaming Optimisation: introduces enhancements such as white point tuning and motion handling tailored for fast-paced content

TCL EU Lineup release

Me and u/pricelesslambo flew to Paris for the new release of TCL Lineup of their EU ( and everywhere outside of North America) for the year 2026. We had the privilege of being able to compare their lineup with regular miniLED TVs, QD-OLED and RGB MiniLED TVs from other manufacturers (TCL also had an RGB MiniLED on display).

Unfortunately we weren’t allowed to take pictures in the PQ room. But here is the info we could gather and our first impressions. The new lineup focuses in one line of product in particular: SQD Minileds

What is SQD Miniled?

https://preview.redd.it/9j9arop4byug1.png?width=546&format=png&auto=webp&s=e3786e585dc59e28e328c01cbfadde0a8186995d

We had the opportunity to compare the colors to many technologies, as stated earlier and the colors are no joke. They are absolutely competing RGB miniLEDs in terms of color volume. One big advantage of SQD miniLEDs is the presence of a white LED backlight. A flaw everyone could notice at the event is since RGB miniLEDs only have Red Green and Blue LEDs is that if you have a small white portion in the image surround by colors is that colors will bleed in the white portion of the image resulting in a colored white instead of pure white. The SQD MiniLED is also supposed to bring a 33% improvement in color gamut performance and is supposed to cover 100% of BT2020 color space. Not something we were able to test, unfortunately.
Also, we were able to compare many scenes compared to flagship TVs (the A95L was one of them) and TCL’s local dimming was very impressive. Suppressing almost all blooming and keeping the same details as the A95L. As for color accuracy, all TVs were in standard mode so we cannot speak on that front. Other than the A95L, The TCL SQD Mini-LED looked the best out of the 5 TVs on display.

Also we couldn’t test processing, upscaling and motion handling. This was a press release after all.

So here are the specs for the main EU/Asia lineup of TCL releases this year:

X11L:
Up to 10000 nits and up to 20000 dimming zones on the largest size available.
Available in 75-85-98in. The TV also looks really slick being only 2cm thick. Almost no bezels either.

https://preview.redd.it/pntuatp4byug1.jpg?width=586&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9fbb4a86472e59342eb05aaf2f556ca041e4f831

C8L:

C7L:

Brightness up to 3000nits, up to 2176 dimming zones
Available in 65-75-85-98in

https://preview.redd.it/i9w1cxp4byug1.jpg?width=576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8ab8323ed45bb000d4e55a4732081d85ccf3650

They will also have a RGB miniLED lineup, but unfortunately not much info was given for these models as TCL focuses on their SQD lineup.

The RGB MiniLEDs model will be The RM9L and RM7L

RM9L

85in – 4000 nits 8736 Colour zones*

98in – 6000 nits 11520 Colour zones*

115in – 9000 nits 16848 Colour zones*

RM7L – all models are 2000 nits
65in – 1344 Colour zones*

75in – 1800 Colour zones*

85in – 2160 Colour zones*

98in – 2880 Colour zones*

*1 dimming zone = 3 colour zones. Each zone has to support 3 LEDS instead of one so zones don’t work like on regular miniLEDs.

RM9L & RM7L | TCL RGB-MiniLED

At the Paris EU event

At the Paris EU event, I got to experience the latest TVs that TCL is bringing to the European market for 2026.

Two models really took centre stage, mainly because of their sheer size. The 98" X11L looked impressive, but it was the 115" RM9L opposite it that really grabbed attention. It’s huge. Having moved an 85" TV before, I definitely wouldn’t want to be responsible for setting up a 115".

Once you get past the size, the RM9L also delivers where it matters. The brightness and colour really stand out, especially with the RGB Mini LED approach. It feels like a proper flagship.

Off to the side, the RM7L was also on display. This looks like the more accessible option for people who want RGB Mini LED without going all the way to the top end.

The SQD-X11L was probably the overall standout on the day, but the RM9L still felt premium and well put together.

With Dolby Vision continuing to push wider colour and more dynamic HDR, the direction TCL is taking here makes a lot of sense.

Specifications :

With a 180Hz refresh rate and a 1ms (GtG) response time, motion stays clear and fluid, even during fast-paced scenes. Support for AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync helps minimise tearing and stuttering, keeping gameplay consistent and responsive.

Enhanced HDR performance
HDR600 certification and peak brightness up to 600 nits allow highlights to stand out while preserving shadow detail, so you can see more clearly in both bright and dark scenes.

Accurate, lifelike colour
Covering 97% of the DCI-P3 colour space and supporting a 10-bit colour depth, the monitor produces over a billion colours for richer, more natural-looking images with improved accuracy. This means if you’re a creative, it offers incredible colour accuracy, this is all thanks to Quantum dot (QD)

Fast HVA panel with halo control
The Fast HVA panel, combined with TCL’s All-domain Halo Control Technology, helps reduce halo effects and improves overall light precision, delivering a cleaner and more consistent picture across the entire screen.

Designed for comfort and flexibility
The adjustable stand offers height adjustment up to 125mm, plus tilt and swivel controls, making it easy to find a comfortable viewing position for any desk setup. We actually use this as an office monitor and it's incredibly flexible. The only issue is when using vertically it needs to tilt slightly up. There is absolutely no wiggle or shaking however.

Complete connectivity
With two HDMI ports, DisplayPort, and a headphone jack, you can connect a PC and multiple consoles at the same time without constantly switching cables.

Let me know if you have any questions.

A400 Pro | NxtVision TV | QD-MiniLED | Art TV

TCL A400 Pro NXTVISION. It’s basically an “art-style” TV, but with actual decent specs.

Big thing here is that the 55” and up models use QD Mini-LED instead of the usual edge-lit or Direct-lit backlighting you get on most art TVs. That means proper local dimming (up to 448 zones), better contrast, brighter highlights, and generally more accurate colours.

Quick breakdown depending on size:

  • 55”- 98”: QD Mini-LED (112, 180 , 240 , 264 , 448), Dolby Vision IQ, 144Hz
  • 43”: QLED 4K, Dolby Vision, 60Hz
  • 32”: QLED FHD, 60Hz

Design-wise, it’s going for that framed artwork look. The new walnut-style frame actually makes it look more like a picture frame out of the box (I personally think it’s way nicer than the white border on the older A300). HVA-Matte panel helps cut reflections too, so it looks more natural looking especially when displaying artwork.

There’s also an art mode with curated museum modes + AI-generated images if that’s something you want to explore, you can also upload your own artwork.

It’s launching in Europe around April and comes in 55", 65", 75", 85", and 98".

Size Panel Type Resolution HDR Refresh Rate Brightness (nits) Dimming / Backlight
98" QD Mini-LED 4K Dolby Vision IQ 144Hz 1000 448 zones
85" QD Mini-LED 4K Dolby Vision IQ 144Hz 700 264 zones
75" QD Mini-LED 4K Dolby Vision IQ 144Hz 700 240 zones
65" QD Mini-LED 4K Dolby Vision IQ 144Hz 700 180 zones
