Hello!

First time pet pigeon fanciers here.

We’ve been doing tons of research on how to best care for our baby Aquilla, and would welcome some feedback on how we’ve set up the cage and if there’s anything else we should include!

It’s a 121cm x 74cm x 81cm dog cage. The wooden perches were made by myself from untreated timber boards that I’ve then sealed with beeswax. All of the colourful dyes and such that you can see are food dye only. The dishes are for water (the deep stainless one), food (the middle one) and grit (the little one).

We’re going to line the wicker basket with a coconut fibre liner and then probably put some shredded newspaper in there.

We’ve done a *lot* of research into food and have decided to make our own to try to reduce the chances of obesity in Aquilla, and we have an air purifier near the desk running to prevent fancier’s lung.

Just off to the left is a window for some sunlight and a good day/night regulation, and the room is vented so the air won’t be stale, but of course it has a radiator so the temperature will be stable.

Any other advice?
