Switched from Virgin to PM as part of the $20/60go CAN/US/MEX deal in January. I have a separate phone for work, and I have a tablet for my browsing/streaming needs at home, so I really only use my phone on the go (public transit when I go to the office 1x a week, running errands, travelling, etc.).

A few disappointments so far, to the sound of 80s-90s music:

TIME AFTER TIME

TELUS network sucks. I use it where I live (Montreal region), in Toronto (where I need to go sometimes for work), and in Alberta (I visit friends there), and I often get only 1 bar in closed spaces. It didn't happen with the Bell network. I don't miss calls, but loading web pages and apps seems to take forever.

WHO CAN IT BE NOW?

I am inundated with spam calls since moving to PM. It may be a coincidence, but I doubt it. Virgin had an anti-spam call feature that blocked some incoming calls, and some other calls were flagged as 'potential spam' as part of the feature. PM doesn't have that, and some weeks I get like 10 spam calls a day.

YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE

On the other hand, I love their app, the payment / monthly allocation system is great (no stupid '$5 increments' rule like PC Mobile or No Name where you always carry a balance), and the price point is great.

SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO?

I was paying $36 a month with Virgin (for 20go only) after two consecutive increases in 7 months. So it's a matter of price vs quality. I am not using my phone that much. I also have an old iPhone 12 that may explain some issues (though they were not as frequent with Virgin). I plan on changing phones this fall so maybe I'll wait.

$20 is a killer price.

PROMISES, PROMISES

I was told tier-3 brands were just as good as tier-2 or the OGs, but I am starting to have doubts. Thoughts? Similar experience? People who have buyer's remorse?
