How hard is it to get a scholarship in China for September 2026? (Business in English, international student)

I’m planning to apply for a Bachelor’s degree in Business taught in English in China for the September 2026 intake, probably in cities like Shanghai or Shenzhen.

I’m from Colombia, and I’m trying to understand how realistic it is to get a scholarship right now.

I’ve read about the CSC scholarship and also university or provincial scholarships, but I keep seeing mixed opinions. Some people say China offers many scholarships every year, while others say competition has increased recently.

I also saw comments saying that fully funded scholarships for English-taught undergraduate programs can be more limited compared to Chinese-taught programs, which makes me unsure how difficult the process actually is.

For those who recently applied or got accepted:

• How difficult is it to get a scholarship right now?

• From 1–10, how competitive is it for Business in English?

• Is it still realistic to apply for September 2026 or am I late?

• Are scholarships more common at mid-tier universities?

• Is it harder for Latin American students compared to Asian applicants?

• Which type of scholarship is easier: CSC, provincial, or university scholarships?

I’m trying to understand how strong my chances are before paying application fees and preparing all documents.

Any honest experience would really help.

Thanks!

Business degree in English in Shanghai or Shenzhen – how intense is the workload for international students?

I’m considering applying for a Business bachelor’s degree taught in English in universities located in Shanghai or Shenzhen, ideally with a scholarship.

My situation is a bit different from the typical full-time student because I currently run a small export business, so I won’t be able to dedicate 100% of my time only to university.

I’ve heard mixed opinions: some people say Chinese universities are very strict academically, while others say that for international students (especially in English-taught business programs) the workload can be manageable.

What I’m trying to understand is how realistic it is to balance studies + a small online business.

For students who studied (or are studying) business in English in Shanghai or Shenzhen:

• How heavy is the academic workload actually?

• Is attendance mandatory and strictly controlled?

• How many hours per week do you realistically spend studying?

• Are deadlines and exams very demanding?

• From 1–10, how strict is the academic pressure?

• Is it possible to have time for personal projects or a small business?

• Does having a scholarship make academic expectations stricter?

I’m not looking for an “easy” degree, just trying to understand how flexible or demanding these programs are in reality for international students.

Honest experiences would really help.

Thanks in advance 🙏

How strict are Chinese universities really? (Shanghai / Shenzhen) – Honest opinions from international students?

I keep seeing mixed opinions about studying in China as an international student.

Some people say universities in China are very strict and academically demanding, while others say that for foreigners it’s actually manageable, especially in majors like business.

I’m particularly interested in universities in cities like Shanghai or Shenzhen, and applying for a scholarship in a business-related bachelor’s degree.

What I want to understand is:

• How heavy is the academic workload really?

• Are professors strict with attendance, deadlines, and exams?

• Is it true that universities are becoming stricter with international students recently?

• From 1–10, how strict would you rate the academic pressure?

• Is business considered easier than STEM in China?

I’ve read that some universities are starting to apply the same academic standards to international students as to local students, which might make things more demanding than before.

I would really appreciate honest experiences from international students currently studying (or who studied) in China.

Thanks!
