Once all the boomer generation passes away, what’s gonna happen with their houses as nobody can afford them ?
A lot of neighborhoods of Toronto are just full of houses where boomers lived their full lives but what is going to happen when this whole generation is not there anymore ?
The joy of Performance Counselling…
I work as a salesperson for a very famous luxury brand that has been doing pretty poorly recently. Things are so bad they cannot even buy paper towels for the team kitchen anymore.
And we just had a horrible meeting today about performance counseling.
Starting in April, if you hit less than 70% of your monthly target, you get a written warning.
After 3 months of not hitting target and getting 3 written warnings, you get fired.
And after one or two warnings, it only fully resets if you hit at least 70% of your target for 6 months in a row.
You can also get written up for being one minute late or for bringing a “negative attitude” or “negative mood,” so basically it can go even faster.
Even if you miss your target because you took two weeks of vacation, it can still be held against you and potentially lead to you being fired.
The manager also said we need to get used to having weird birthdays, weird bachelor/bachelorette parties, weird weekends, weird vacations, or sometimes not going to those events at all because hitting our targets is more important now.
The manager said they do not want us feeling sorry for ourselves or saying “poor me, poor me, I’m not making my goal and I’m going to loose my job,” because we just need to be more accountable.
They also said that if we want to work in luxury retail, we cannot expect anything different and that this is just part of the job.
Honestly these days we get threatened with being fired almost every day.
I have a few interviews lined up over the next few days for other workplaces, but for now it is really hard mentally. It feels like every month we are risking our jobs, and we cannot control the fact that the brand is not as “hot” anymore...
