Pinhole leak in T Fitting
This T fitting developed a pinhole leak that I noticed last night. I wrapped it in silicon tape which stopped it for a temporary fix. You may be able to tell this wall has been opened before. The pipe off to the left had two leaks in it about two years ago where I replaced a 5' length of pipe. So it looks like we are going to be getting quotes for a repipe. (55 year old house in socal, many of our neighbors have had it done already.)
In the meantime, I'm trying to think of an easy way to fix this. Cutting the T out may not leave enough length for a Sharkbite, and I do have concerns with the elbow coming directly off of it. Unsoldering it seems difficult, and I'm not sure about having enough space in between to get a Sharkbite in there.
Option B I would think is to cut everything off above and below the T and the elbow. Then build a new T and elbow section, and connect that to the existing pipes with straight couplers. I don't want to do that with Sharkbites. I have some experience with sweating pipes, but this was a few exterior spigots. I haven't yet tackled any inside the walls.
I guess there's always calling in a professional, but I think I can do it, I'm just concerned about getting the new fitting in between pipes that don't look that mobile. Does this look doable for the home gamer?
