There is something undeniably magical about placing a single colored square on a massive canvas and watching thousands of strangers do the exact same thing to build a shared world. Inspired by the legendary collaborative social experiments of the past (like r/place and wplace), Pixtera is a new, massive multiplayer pixel art game.

For years, the multiplayer canvas genre has been stuck using the same primitive tools. We built Pixtera to evolve the experience. We provide creators with advanced, professional-grade features right from the start. Players can use Blueprint guides to map out massive guild projects, activate Ghosting modes for precision, and share custom color palettes with their teams. We also feature an expansive 16M color wheel for ultimate creative freedom.

Whether you are building peaceful solo masterpieces, collaborating with friends, or engaging in epic territory battles with rival factions, we want this to be a permanent home for the pixel art community. The canvas is yours! Come join the global board.

Note on accessibility: You can explore and spectate the entire massive canvas without any account at all! To actually place pixels, a quick 1-click Google login is required. We did this purely to protect the community's artwork from bots and spam scripts. There are no annoying sign-up forms!

There is something undeniably emotional and almost magical about placing a single colored square on a massive canvas, stepping back, and watching millions of strangers do the exact same thing to build a shared world.

When r/place first exploded onto the internet, it wasn’t just a social experiment; it was a massive cultural milestone for the digital art community. It showed us what happens when chaotic internet factions collide to build beautiful collaborative pixel art, coordinate massive designs, and fight epic border wars. But as we all know, r/place was always meant to be a temporary event. Once the canvas inevitably froze, it achieved its corporate purpose, leaving a massive, passionate community of pixel artists without a permanent home.

Naturally, alternatives quickly stepped up to fill the void. We are not afraid or shy to mention platforms like wplace., pxls.space, and PixelPlanet.io by name. Why? Because these platforms are not just competitors; they represent the shared journey and history that every single fan of multiplayer pixel games has walked or is still walking today. They did an incredible job of gathering a hungry audience and proving that the demand for a continuous multiplayer pixel canvas was huge.

But if we look at the genre objectively over the last few years, a harsh truth emerges: the underlying technology stagnated. The community grew, but the tools stayed exactly the same. Whether you were painting on wplace, battling on PixelPlanet, or joining factions on pxls, you were largely stuck using the same primitive, bare-bones click-and-wait interfaces. The genre got lost in its own simplicity.

This exact stagnation is what drove us to create pixtera.art. We didn't want to just launch another basic clone; we wanted to fundamentally change how players interact with the canvas. We believe that artists, guilds, and everyday players deserve diverse, advanced functionalities. From day one, Pixtera is stepping onto the field with professional-grade tools like Blueprint guides, Ghosting modes, custom palette sharing, and an expansive 16M color wheel. We built pixtera.art to be a true creative engine, not just a bare board.

We know there are many other indie pixel canvases out there, and we might have missed naming a few smaller ones in this post. But that’s exactly why we are here! If you are playing on or developing another pixel art site, drop it in the comments below. Let’s talk about it, review it, and discuss what makes it special. We are all building this space together, and every new project pushes the entire community forward.

The multiplayer canvas genre is finally evolving. We invite you to come test pixtera.art, compare us to the historic giants like r/place or wplace, and tell us exactly what you think. Success to every developer pushing this genre forward, success to you all, and let's discuss the future of the global pixel canvas in the comments! 🚀👾

Hey everyone! Over the past few weeks, we’ve deep-dived into every mechanic, tool, and feature this platform has to offer. Now, it is time for the admin team to step back and hand the brush over to you. From this point on, we will stop with the long tutorial posts and only chime in for major updates, patches, or exciting community events!

Before we fully open the floodgates, let’s talk about the core philosophy of our global canvas: Creative Freedom vs. Community Rules.

The Boundary of Freedom With a canvas spanning over 4+ Trillion pixels, your freedom to create is practically limitless. We want you to draw, build, expand, and express yourselves without heavy restrictions. However, true freedom requires a foundation of respect. The golden rule is simple: Keep it creative, keep it fun, and keep it clean. Avoid hate speech, illegal content, or anything that maliciously ruins the experience for others. We want a space where every artist, gamer, and community feels welcome to leave their mark.

Rivals on the Map, A Team in the Hub On the canvas, you might find yourselves fighting for territory. You will have turf wars, strategic alliances, and epic battles over borders. That is the beauty of a massive multiplayer pixel game! But remember: while we might be rivals on the board, here in this community, we are one big team.

What happens next? This subreddit/hub is now officially YOUR space. Use it to:

  • Share your masterpieces: Drop screenshots and coordinates of your finished art.
  • Coordinate strategies: Build factions, recruit members, and plan your next big pixel drop.
  • Help each other: Share custom palettes, blueprints, and tips for new players.

The 4-trillion pixel world is waiting. Let’s see what we can build together. Create your pixel art, defend your territory, and most importantly, have fun! 🚀🎨

Every single pixel you place on the map is a signature. In the world of Pixtera, you aren't just an anonymous user; you are a creator with a unique identity.

The Instant Profile Preview Have you ever wondered who is building that massive masterpiece next to you? Simply click on any confirmed pixel, and a detailed profile window instantly appears. This is your "digital business card" on the canvas, showing everyone:

  • Your Visuals: Custom avatar, profile banner, and specialized character skins.
  • Your Legacy: Total pixels placed and your current player level.
  • Status Symbols: Proudly display your Silver or Gold VIP badges to show your contribution to the ecosystem.

Building Alliances & Friendships Pixtera is designed for collaboration. From the profile window, you can:

  • Send Friend Requests: Connect with artists whose style you admire.
  • External Socials: Link your Discord, Reddit, or YouTube accounts to build your following or coordinate massive coalitions for "Mega-Builds."
  • Full Profile View: Dive deeper into a player's history and achievements with one click.

Precision Sharing: "Look at This!" One of the most powerful features in Pixtera is the Coordinate Sharing Tool. Found directly on the dashboard, this tool allows you to:

  1. Generate a Deep Link: Position your screen exactly on the artwork you want to show, set the zoom level, and generate a unique URL.
  2. Direct Teleportation: Anyone who clicks your link will be teleported exactly to that spot and zoom level, seeing exactly what you intended them to see.
  3. Capture & Download: Love a piece of art? Use the integrated download function to save high-quality snapshots of the canvas directly to your device.

Whether you want to stay a mysterious solo artist or lead a global art guild, your profile is how the world sees you. Make it count!

Ready to leave your mark on the world’s largest collaborative canvas? Pixtera isn’t just about placing dots; it’s a professional-grade pixel art studio built for the community. Here is everything you need to know about our drawing interface and mechanics.

🔍 Navigation & Zoom The world map is vast! While you can view the entire globe, drawing is enabled once you hit 10x zoom. However, for the best creative experience and precision, we recommend zooming in to 17x or higher. This gives you the perfect grid view for detailed work.

🎨 Advanced Palette Management

  • The Starter Kit: Every player begins with a free basic palette of 36+ essential colors.
  • Customization: Use the "+" icon to add specific colors or build entirely new custom palettes. Name them, edit them, or delete them to fit your project.
  • Collaboration: Share your custom palettes with friends! If you use premium colors, your friends can choose to purchase them or substitute them with free alternatives.
  • Gold VIP Magic: Buying individual colors can add up. The Gold VIP is your "magic wand"—it unlocks the full 16+ Million color wheel for a month, making it the most cost-effective way to create hyper-realistic art.

🛠️ Pro Tools for Precision

  • Dual Erasers: We offer two types of erasers. The first removes unconfirmed pixels (before you hit save). The second is the "Wipe" tool, which allows you to overwrite confirmed pixels back to the base map.
  • Ghosting Mode (The Eye): Working on a massive project? Toggle the "Eye" icon to dim the art and see the map contours beneath. Perfect for orientation!
  • Color Picker (Pipette): See a color you love? Use the pipette to identify it, see the code, and add it to your collection.
  • The Roller (Continuous Draw): No more clicking for every pixel. Use the Roller to paint smooth, continuous lines with a single stroke.
  • Grid System: Enable the grid for complex geometric projects to ensure every pixel is in its right place.

📍 Blueprints & Pins

  • The Blueprint Tool: Import any image, pixelate it, and "pin" it to the map as a translucent guide. Use it solo or share it with a team for flawless coordination.
  • Personal Pins: Mark your favorite locations or ongoing projects. These pins are private to you and visible at any zoom level, so you never lose your spot.

🔋 The Pixel Economy

  • Free Pixels: You regenerate 1 pixel every 60+ seconds. Want to go faster? You can upgrade your regen speed!
  • Storage Vault: Your base storage starts at 100/100. Upgrade your capacity to store more free pixels while you're offline, increasing your daily drawing power.
  • Instant Restock: In a hurry? The shop allows you to buy instant pixel packs to keep the creative flow going without waiting.

✅ Confirm Your Art Every time you draw, a small counter tracks your placed pixels. Once you’re happy, hit Confirm to push your art to the global database instantly. Made a mistake? Hit cancel before confirming to save your resources.

Pixtera is built to be the most comfortable and expressive pixel art board ever created. Join us and start building!

You can map it to your premium palettes or our free basic 40-color palette. Once ready, drop it onto the world map as a translucent Blueprint. The UI will guide you on exactly which colors to place where. Even better? You can share this blueprint with friends to build massive collaborative art seamlessly!

👑 VIP Subscriptions (1-Month Passes) For those who want to take their art to the absolute limit:

  • Silver VIP: Unlocks the Collaboration Feature, allowing you to invite friends and paint massive canvases together as a coordinated team.
  • Gold VIP: Includes all Silver perks PLUS unlocks the True Color Wheel (16+ Million Colors). Never be restricted by palettes again; paint with absolute hyper-realistic freedom.

Why an In-Game Store? Building a deep, lag-free, endlessly evolving platform requires server power and constant development. Optional purchases ensure Pixtera remains a living, breathing world with continuous updates. But remember: dedication and gameplay will always reward you with the core tools you need.

Join us, share your feedback, and let's build the most comfortable, expressive pixel art ecosystem together. What tool are you most excited to use? Let us know below! 👇

Hey everyone! Since we’ve covered the basics of the map, I want to dive into something really cool: our in-game economy. We wanted to make sure that active players are actually rewarded for their time and creativity on the canvas.

To keep things balanced, fair, and fun, we use a two-currency system: Bits and CUBITs.

🔹 Bits (Earned by playing): This is your everyday currency. You don’t buy these; you earn them naturally just by being active. You gather Bits through daily consecutive logins, participating in events, leveling up, and simply engaging with the game. We’ve also sprinkled in some extra bonuses along the way!

🔸 CUBITs (The main currency): CUBITs are used for bigger actions and premium features. The best part? You can convert your hard-earned Bits directly into CUBITs at any time! (100 Bits = 1 CUBIT). If you ever want to speed things up or need a quick boost, you have the option to top up your CUBITs directly ($1 = 1000 CUBITs), but it’s completely optional.

Our main goal was to build a system where you can fully enjoy the platform and progress simply by being a dedicated artist. Your time and pixels have real value here.

What do you guys think of this setup? Let me know below!
