I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the handling and delay of human remains that were scheduled to be transported by Volaris Airlines.
The remains of a former pilot were delivered to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) by the funeral home and placed under the care of your airline for transport on flight Q64061 (LAX to Guatemala City, scheduled departure on 03/04/2026 at 22:59, arrival on 04/04/2026 at 04:37). However, at 12:27 AM, we received an email stating: “Due to space restriction your shipment has been rescheduled.”
This situation is extremely distressing. Human remains should be treated with the highest level of dignity and priority. The deceased dedicated over 30 years of service as a Commercial Class A Driver in the United States and was also a former pilot. His final wish was to be laid to rest in his country of birth, Guatemala.
Funeral services have already been scheduled in Guatemala based on the confirmed flight provided by your airline, and this delay has created significant emotional and logistical hardship for the family.
Given the urgency and sensitivity of this matter, I respectfully request immediate clarification on the following:
- What protocols are currently in place for the care and handling of his remains while they are being held at LAX?
- Is Volaris able to coordinate with another airline carrier to ensure his remains are transported on the next available flight to Guatemala, given that other airlines service this route?
- What is the confirmed status for the next available flight, and can you guarantee that his remains will be prioritized and placed on it?
Due to the seriousness of this situation, I request that this matter be escalated to upper management immediately. I expect a prompt response with detailed information and a clear resolution.
